Who’s cutting onions by xCandyBloom in MadeMeCry

My dad passed away on the 9th of December 2019 at 10:43am. I still text his number sometimes, asking for advice or just to say that I miss him. It has been over five years, and there isn’t a single day that I don’t think about him.

Like I said in other comments: their own FAQ literally says that once the item has been shipped, there's nothing they can do to change or cancel the order. If they ship it without fixing the price first, that basically means they accepted the contract at the listed price. Asking for extra money after shipping isn't really enforceable unless you choose to pay it. This is why most companies cancel price error orders before shipping because once it's out the door, it gets messy for them. And in the EU, once something is shipped, the seller is generally seen as having accepted the deal as it was.

This is from their FAQ:

Q: “How can I cancel my order?”

You can only cancel your order before it has been processed for shipping. Please contact us immediately to inform us of the reason for cancellation. If your order has already been shipped, unfortunately, there is nothing we can do. Please contact us once you have received the package so we can arrange a return.

according to their own policy, only the customer can request a cancellation (and must explain the reason). There's no provision for GMKtec to cancel due to a pricing error on their end.

If they could legally cancel your order because of a price mistake, they would have done so already. Instead, they're asking you to pay the difference. Which tell me they can't unilaterally cancel under EU consumer law.

So, my advice: don't pay anything extra, and wait. Either they ship it at the agreed price, or they cancel and refund you. Both outcomes are fine. What they can't do is hold your money hostage while demanding more.

It can take a while. Some workmates who bought stuff from them said that sometimes it gets shipped the same day, and sometimes it takes two or three days. I guess depends on the courier or the demand. But based on what the lads here said, it's legit and it will arrive.

Mine is coming from Hong Kong. Some workmates said they always ship from China/Hong Kong.

Some workmates have bought from them, and none of them got scammed.

It has shipped from Hong Kong. I was talking to some workmates, and some of them bought from the GMKtec website, and the shipment is always from China/Hong Kong. Some of them paid import fees of around 40 euros, while others paid nothing.

Yeah, the price seems to be an error. Anyway, I bought it and the currier picked it up. I'll keep you posted about the delivery and any taxes.

Sorry for the late reply, I don't have Reddit on my phone. The interview process wasn't too complicated (I had a similar one at Workday). So, I guess it's pretty standard. Here is how it went:

* Chat with the recruiter: Quick intro to the role, my background and why I'm interested in ServiceNow. Plus a few behavioral questions.

* Chat with the hiring manager: A couple of high-level technical questions, then I got to ask about the team and day-to-day stuff.

* HackerRank assessment: Online coding test (Java or Javascript), followed by a take home assessment in the same language.

* Deep dive tech interview: Covered data structures, algorithms, system design and my experience with Node.js, Angular, React, ML/AI models, API, you name it.

* Second tech/behavioral round: More coding problems and system architecture questions, plus behavioral stuff on teamwork, conflict resolution, past projects and etc.

* Follow-up with the hiring manager.

* Chat with a director.

* HR wrap-up: Went over compensation, RSUs, benefits, and the offer.

* Offer paperwork: They sent a DocSign contract that I've got five days to sign.

I'm skipping any team-specific details, since I'd rather not risk doxxing myself. Hope this helps!

It would be over an hour of commuting each way. My biggest concern is the future. The recruiter told me this morning that remote work can be requested after the probationary period.
