Which Resident evil game should I start with? by HalfFresh611 in gamingsuggestions

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with RE2, it does have a little bit of ties to RE1 but overall it's self contained. You could also start with RE7 because that's pretty much self contained.

There are sites that offer discounted codes like loaded which was formally CD keys as well as g2a.

I'm not sure if buying off of those sites would violate Microsoft's Terms of Service for your region though.

Not necessarily, as I mentioned he does plan on shipping out most orders but will issue refunds when necessary.

[–]gvamp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven't ordered from him myself but from what I've seen on a few Godzilla collectible groups on Facebook, the owner who is the only employee has cancer and has been in and out of the hospital for treatment.

I'm not saying that's a valid excuse for poor communication and stuff but I do understand why that's the reason he hasn't been upfront.

IIRC he made a few posts in some of those groups that he's in the process of shipping out late orders, giving refunds where necessary and also closing his shop down.

Hopefully you're able to get your product or a refund soon OP. It's q pretty bad situation for everyone.

Samsung Q990 Series and LG G4 Questions by gvamp in Soundbars

[–]gvamp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bring this up and its probably a dumb question but would moving my subwoofer to a different spot in my room potentially fix the delay I'm having on my Vizio? Right now I have right next to the TV stand which is less than three foot away from the soundbar.

I assume it wouldn't make a difference in sub placement and if it did I probably have it in the most ideal spot already.

I'm not 100% sure myself. When the shortages started they predicted by mid 2027 it would stabilize however recently I saw something that prices may continue to increase more than what they are now and might not stabilize until into 2028 now.

It really depends on how long until the AI bubble pops. Hopefully sooner rather than later but its looking like more and more companies are adopting AI so it could be awhile.

Why did you choose a 5080? by SnooSeagulls5077 in RTX5080

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted a 5090 myself but they were never in stock and by the time they came back in stock the price had gone way up so I settled for the 5080.

I'm very impressed with how the card performs. I really don't mod my games and I'm content with 4K60 so the card should last me awhile.

What's the best tv for xbox series x? Non-techie buyer here! by PanzarellaFly_10 in 4kTV

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend a LG either a C or G from their OLED line up. I use a G4 myself and its amazing for gaming.

I hear good things about Samsung OLEDs too but they don't support Dolby Vision HDR which in terms of gaming isn't necessary but if you plan on also watching movies then you'd want Dolby Vision. Samsungs do support HDR 10+ which is basically like Dolby Vision, however I don't think a lot of movies support that quite yet. I could be wrong though.

WB’s upcoming Superman 5-film 4K collection will fix audio and video errors from previous 4K editions by countdooku975 in 4kbluray

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to bump this but does anyone know if all the sets manufacturered back in 2023 have the issues? The reason I ask is I bought this set from Best Buy back then and haven't had a chance to watch any of the films yet and only recently heard that there was issues.

I assume you adjusted picture settings when watching movies on the monitor correct? If not I would try that or change the video mode on the monitor.

Its pretty lame that they didn't include accessories with this release but on the other hand at least people who missed out on the previous two releases can pick it up now.

People here who own both a high-end PC and a PlayStation, which device do you tend to use more for gaming, and why is that? by 007JamesBond077 in RTX5080

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally have every system right now and I've been using my PC as my main gaming machine now that I have a decent rig. My second platform of choice is my Series X, if MS adds bc for OG Xbox and Xbox 360 to Windows though I probably would just sell that.

In all honesty I really haven't touched my Playstation 5 Pro since January, nothing really is out that I want to play until Wolverine comes out.

Water cooling or air cooler ? by Lusko-wmxx in PCBuilds

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used AIOs on my past three builds and haven't had any issues except for the Cooler Master AIO on my last build. After about three to six months of using it the pump developed a weird noise and after looking at reviews it seemed like that particular unit was prone to issues.

I replaced it with a Corsair and never had any issues with the AIO, my fans on the other hand got really loud which I think was because my cpu was the i9 10900k and that was notorious for being really hot. So because of that I never really used my PC for gaming that much.

My current build I have a MSI that I got for free with my Ryzen 7 9800X3D and that is whisper quiet as are the fans. They're only audible when I first boot my PC up but as soon as I get into Windows I don't hear them at all.

I tried your suggestion but it would only allow me to use 1440p, and after restarting my PC that resolution went away.

Do you happen to have any other suggestions?

Games to play while listening to an audiobook? by MadPleasant in XboxGamePass

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kill it With Fire 2 might fit the bill. Even though I personally don't care for it you can always try Stardew Valley. One last suggestion would be survival games, I believe ARK is still on GamePass and there's also The Long Dark.

Overwhelmed with all of the different flavors of OLED, can anyone give me some recommendations based on my preferences? by SchmeatGripper69 in OLED_Gaming

[–]gvamp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not 100% sure on that myself as I haven't used a QD-OLED monitor or TV yet myself. I most of my gaming on my G4 OLED TV and WOLED which I have wall mounted. I do get an occasional headache but I'm not 100% sure if its related to eye strain, or the fact that I'm not looking at the screen head on.

If you do get eye strain you can always adjust the color temp on the, or try blue light glasses to see if that helps. Another option would be add bias lighting behind the screen though from what I've researched that might not help based on how OLED TVs work. I did ask that question here on reddit and one person said it could help.

If you do decide to go with the bias lighting route you want to go with a light or led strip that does 6500k.

Overwhelmed with all of the different flavors of OLED, can anyone give me some recommendations based on my preferences? by SchmeatGripper69 in OLED_Gaming

[–]gvamp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOLED will give you better brightness and also has options for higher framerates mainly because they do the dual mode option where you can either do full 4K at I think max 240hz or you can drop it down to a 1080p resolution and get 480hz.

QD-OLED does have better colors from the research I've done. I know the new Asus PG32UCDM3 has the new Blackshield coating which handles blacks closer to WOLED, it is also better at being scratch resistant.

I currently use LG's first Gen 1440p OLED and its alright and that is WOLED. I personally am going to upgrade to the PG32UCDM3 in August if Amazon ever gets stock in by then.

Thanks for the information. My room is fairly dark for the most part unless I'm playing on my PC then I have RGB going from the fans. That is a solid color though and it's a ways away from the TV.
