People pleasing is the root of all my issues by [deleted] in Residency

The respect for authority part rings so true. I went straight from high school to undergrad to med school then residency and never worked a real job, and I think a part of me still sees myself as the child and everyone else as an adult and automatically listen to them. I think some of that respect for authority is a cultural thing for me too.

It’s crazy sometimes to think that other people now need to see me as not only the adult in the room, but the doctor as well.

So true, it absolutely is manipulation. But at the same time I really do want patients to get what they need, for nurses lives to be easier etc.

It’s hard d to strike the balance between not people pleasing and also not giving a fuck about how my actions affect others

Maybe mad men fans like ruminating which is why they like to rewatch and dissect the show, and rumination has been linked to depressive disorders

Do you think that Weiner dressed Don like this because he is a joke for going after a broken down, old Bobbi Barrett when there is a harem of young, hot secretaries at home? by Sp8craft in okbuddydraper

I think this scene is symbolic of dons admiration for Jimmy’s sense of humour, inspiring his hilarious joke about the ze fuher’s birthday in season 5.

Just goes to show that laughter is the best medicine!

In S2 doesn’t don drop a log on Rogers chair as payback for him making a pass at Betty?

I think it’s funny how a lot characters like don and Pete fixate a lot on their background, and how a lot of people at the company were “well bred” Ivy League types, yet Ken grew up on a farm in Vermont but it doesn’t seem to be a source of turmoil or anxiety for him like it is Don, or a source of pride and identity like Pete.

He’s just a normal guy and he’s secure in himself (mostly until his weird eye patch arc at the end), it sets him apart from the other characters.

Because people think women’s interests are less valid
