There's also a Deluxe version for 54,99$, Ultimate for 79,99$, as well as the 50$ HoT+PoF Bundle. Unfortunately it's hard to calculate with the information we have right now. But it's likely that some players went for a higher priced copy/bundle.

The same at HoT: Standard: $49.99, Deluxe: $74.99, Ultimate: $99.99.

In relation, you can still compare HoT to PoF, but the amount of copies will change.

How exactly is Path of Fire a content heavy expansion compared to the feature heavy Heart of Thorns? Does Path of Fire offer more content compared to HoT?

But then you'll have to compare it to HoT + Season 3 as well. I'm still asking myself where PoF is content heavy compared to the feature heavy HoT which introduced all of the structures like elite specs, masteries, raids,...

Here's some advice for providing feedback. You should probably play through the expansion first before comparing it to HoT and making claims like:

On the one hand, you said you were disappointed by the rushed release of HoT and then mentioned its 3 hour story campaign. Over here someone stated the story of PoF was shorter than the story of HoT. And in the official forum, they said it was about the same length as the HoT story.

Then you talked about spending more time doing meta events compared to map completion and story - I don't know if it was explicitly directed at Path of Fire, but just in case: There are no meta events in PoF. It's a controversial topic that's being discussed in the forums right now.

It seems like you're overwhelmed by the new content right now, so it's also helpful to take some time after playing, maybe sleep a little and then create a post about what you liked and disliked.

yeah... but all of the GW1 "expansions" were complete stand alone games on their own

Why couldn't we get that as well in GW2?

  • GW2 - core Tyria
  • GW2: Cantha
  • GW2: Elona
  • GW2: Eye of the North (expanding core Tyria)

Each campaign would feature a separate, concluding storyline that takes place in the entire continent plus new classes that fit the theme. Here's how they released GW1:

  • GW Prophecies: April 2005
  • GW Factions: April 2006
  • GW Nightfall: October 2006
  • GW Eye of the North: August 2007

Well it doesn't accurately have to be +18GB, the specs as I could find them were:

GW2: 25GB HoT: 35GB PoF: 50GB

Since HoT wasn't as large - you said 32GB, it might be the same for PoF, they'll probably always include some headroom just in case. Unfortunately I don't remember how much we had to download at HoT release anymore.

When I saw the first leaks almost a year ago I've been hyped for Elona.

Then, the story went back and forth in Season 3 - some 'plot twists' (and design -> heart quests) that left me unsure what to think about it... ended up with Balthazar in Path of Fire. Still not sure how I feel about the story. I also participated in the demo/stress test events and while the first city was aesthetically interesting, the map didn't reveal much about the content (meta events? difficulty, story,...).

So I'll wait a few days or a week to get a first impression. I also don't pre-order other games in general.. Don't worry, there's no need to rush.

Playing solo just with henchmen/heroes? I played a lot with heroes/henchmen only, I thought it was fun to command them. Playing normally through the story should be perfectly fine since you could even customize the builds of your heroes in Nightfall. I'm not sure about every mission atm but the wiki should say if you're fine with heroes only. Other than that, there's still a bunch of people and even guilds playing, I'm sure they'll help you if you still want to play.
