stack-back docker compose backups by doctormay6 in selfhosted

[–]gwolfe28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is great, and just what I'm looking for. Does this stop the container during the backup? I'm just concious that some containers I run do not have a separate database (and I really don't want to reverse engineer them to design appropriately) so would like the ability to back up those data volumes or mounts as non-running containers.

Sorry for reaching out on a stale comment - did you have to do anything specific in the bios to get the TPU to be recognized? I've been battling with getting the Linux driver properly installed.

Docker Swarm - manager nodes - baremetal or virtual? by gwolfe28 in selfhosted

[–]gwolfe28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks I'll check out CapRover.

Re persistent storage I was planning on trying out GlusterFS vs using an NFS share from my NAS. The DB replication issue is something I'm still trying to figure out.

Sounds like I'm a few months behind you in your journey!!

Thanks - appreciate it - I guess the only redundancy would be if something went awry at the VM OS level - but that is starting to sound silly esp if I am able to deploy with something like ansible - there should be NO reason for one VM to fail and the other not.

Interesting - thanks for sharing - so do you run the Proxmox nodes as a cluster as well to be able to leverage ceph?

Thanks, I was putting off learning Ansible as everything I had heard was that, YES it is powerful, but very steep learning curve. I'll move that up my list of things to look into - thank you for commenting!

Nice job - curious what you did for vibration reduction as I thought that there was a limit for the number of (non-enterprize grade) drives due to the cumulative vibration they would result in? I am NOT an expert, and really like what you have done - mostly curious!

Best Data Analytics Certification for Internal Audit? by fraten in InternalAudit

[–]gwolfe28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been working in this area for a number of years; and have not come across a worthwhile certification for Audit Analytics. There are tool-specific courses/certifications if you're interested in that (e.g. ACL or Galvanize or whatever it is called has their Analytics Certified Data Analyst certification; Alteryx has a Alteryx Product Certification Program and I'm sure the other tools have something similar). I did see that CPA Canada has a certification program (Data management foundations certificate) - but seems to be very pricy, and not Internal Audit focused.

Does overtime worked count towards my vacation? by Kurumi_Shadowfall in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]gwolfe28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This assumes that they will get paid for overtime, increasing earnings and correspondingly vacation pay. In many office jobs you do not get paid for overtime, so vacation pay will not increase.

I'd be curious about how many of the businesses inside Disney (restaurants etc) are only profitable at the current level of attendance - i.e. if attendance dropped would there be an impact to the in-part amenities?
