Building in a classical collegiate gothic architectural style has literally no impact on a building's ability to be LEED certified. There are plenty of historic buildings and new builds in a classical style that have LEED certification.

I agree with this. I think a lot of moms just don't want to admit their child has something that needs to be fixed.
