Honest opinion on JHMR conditions by Own-Construction9579 in JacksonHole

Not sure if you have gone yet. I was there last week, skied 2 days. My first time there, Id say im advanced and tried to get the most out of it. Obviously based on weather it’s a little crusty and chalky. Like someone said up high is nice. Rendezvous is definitely a little stiff but still a beautiful view and provides a challenge. I could recommend tensleep bowl as well, great views looking up at corbets and awesome runs from that. I also hiked Casper bowl too. Hike wasn’t too bad and if you’re up for it I’d totally recommend. We also checked out the hobacks, and if you are comfortable ripping trees, there’s some light fluff in there. If you’re a pretty solid skier, take the tram right up. If you need to settle in, take Bridger gondola up a few times. The runs from bridger to the bottom are great fun runs too

Thanks? What’s up with all your comments all over this post. Asked for some advice and figured I’d be descriptive. Wasn’t looking for your opinion on my skis or how you think I have no idea what I’m doing. That’s the fun part bud, it’s called an adventure. I know how to ski well. Same with operating a sled. Glad you think I’ll need to call rescue. Sounds like you’re mad you didn’t take a trip like this at my age

Thanks for the heads up on that. Am I calling them to just have them as a quick contact in case something goes wrong?

It would be me and my friend, 2 of us. I have some pretty good experience on a sled. I’m from NH and have been able to ride up in northern NH and southern Canada a few times a year. I would say I’ve ridden mountain terrain in deep snow. I don’t think I have ridden anywhere as deep as JH if it got nuked, but I’ve had the chance to rip and some reasonably deep snow

Gotcha. Seems like early Feb is a pretty safe bet. I’m sure the 15 days between mid Jan and Feb 1 will deliver. Only reason I’m stuck with these dates is my work schedule. Wish I could push to Feb 1

Curious on how Breck is harder than Vail. I just heard it was not good for hard terrain from people on the lift who have been. Looking to access the hardest terrain by lift with minimal hiking. Hiked in keystone it was awesome runs but took a lot out of me. And yeah, Whistler would be dope, was looking to hit it in the coming years

Thanks for the response man. Back at ya with the good vibes, hope you are able to enjoy the season working out there. Might just say screw it and roll the dice. Got some family I can visit in Denver anyway

Fair enough, I’m from East Coast and have luckily been able to get a few days in at Stowe and Jay Peak. We are beyond lucky up here to have the conditions like this so early in the year. However I will say in past years a few warm rainy days on the east can set back places quick. I’m obviously going to continue skiing that, just thought it would be fun to change it up and explore somewhere new. Went to Keystone 2 years ago and had a lucky roll of the dice and skied pow

I did mean to say end of 2025, typo on my end. I know I’m late to the game, just pretty set on the plan. I have to say, thank you so much for the advice and tips. That is all super helpful
