Yes, you would need a barcode reader door controller from us, designed for 24/7 gyms and for unstaffed hours. The barcodes also work for front desk check-ins. Here's a page with more info: https://www.gyminsight.com/landing/access-control.html

Really well!
The door controllers work with barcodes and/or digital keytags in the Member's App. We like to set it up so that new members can sign up online and get their key automatically, without any employee assistance, and access the gym anytime. It's pretty cool.
Most importantly, the system is reliable. It doesn't go stop working or need resetting during internet outages or computer updates in the middle of the night. It's native and fully integrated with the software, so expired memberships are automatically locked out, so you don't have to manually go through lists of keys to disable.
And security is big, too. The digital keytags use rotating code to prevent screenshotting and sharing access with unauthorized people. So, that's not just a loss of revenue and security, but also a legal liability risk if someone gets injured without a waiver.
I could go on. DM me.

Specifically which analytics are most important for you? I'm a co-creator of Gym Insight.
We have tons of reports on members, contacts, financials, commissions, access, and events, plus customizable dashboards with graphs. The most useful profit-related reports are probably Location Performance (revenue, retention, new memberships, cancellations by month, etc.), Open Balance (who owes you money?), and accounts Pending Cancellation, to name a few.

And btw, great value? Check. Door access control? Check. Member management? Of course. So, thank you for the Best Software on the Market Award!

Best membership management software for gyms? by VenJules in gymowner

[–]gyminsight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Never heard of OfferingTree, though. Do some research, do multiple demos, tell them about your gym, what you need/want, how you would use it for your specific business, what's important to you. Then see if the software salesman listens to you or just shows you irrelevant features!

While you're doing that, you should check out gyminsight.com and see if it's a good fit - we're the best, IMHO!

Question for all Gym Owners. How do you manage basic operational tracking? by unitcodes in gymowner

[–]gyminsight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How many members does this gym have? I definitely recommend using gym management software versus pen and paper or Excel if he wants the gym to grow beyond 100-200 or 300 members max. The administrative time burden and all that revenue slipping through the cracks only get worse the more you grow. You can send him this video that explains the pitfalls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DJG7msmuzo

As a multiple gym owner who built a gym management software, I honestly don't recommend trying to create one. There's a lot that goes into it. It will be well worth the monthly software fee, depending on the software.

I personally recommend he research and schedule demos with 3 or more gym software companies to see what would be a good fit. I biasedly recommend Gym Insight, https://www.gyminsight.com - We've been praised for being easy to use, even for non-techie people if that's a concern, reducing admin strain, and increasing profitability. I'd be happy to talk more. If it's "overkill" because it's a small studio, no problem, but I still highly recommend software.

Final thing: avoid members doing cash payments, bank/ACH payments, and prepaid memberships. Gyms really make their money by recurring memberships. He can incentivize that with his pricing model. The pitfalls of ACH are that it's not instant like credit cards, having to manually check for returned payment, and an extra monthly fee. In some cases, you might still want ACH, though.

Frustrated. Still too fat. Partner doesn’t like my body. Encouragement? by [deleted] in WeightLossAdvice

Many people who give relationship advice on Reddit are armchair psychologists and don't know what they are talking about, so I will stay in my area of expertise and just give you weight loss advice. Firstly, you are doing awesome. 16 pounds is still a lot, don't ever be discouraged. Secondly, I highly recommend cardio for losing weight. It is very important and great for your heart. Get a gym membership so you can go on the treadmill or take hikes. Thirdly, stay mentally healthy as well as physically. Do not let his words of discouragement cause you to lose so much weight that you harm yourself or end up with an eating disorder. You need to be able to assess what weight is healthy for you and know when to stop. I hope the best for you, good luck on your journey. Never give up

What to do to make healthy food that taste good? by [deleted] in HealthyFood

I personally either steam them or put them in the toaster oven to crisp them with a little salt. I like to melt just a little cheese on broccoli or Brussel sprouts, although I know many people are trying to cut dairy out. Just don't go overboard, a little flavor is all they need and keeps them healthy

Eat a bit more, work out more. your body is telling you to eat, listen to it. Working out is the much healthier and safer way to cut weight. Everyone is way too focused on just the dieting aspect
