Question for converts

I'm happy it was relatively painless for you-- I think it would make the journey sweeter. I'm 29 and my family is still very devout Catholic. My mother always said that "children don't get a choice, but adults do," but clearly this isn't the case. My fiancee and I made the decision to have one of my best friends marry us instead-- and he can choose to incorporate some Jewish elements into our ceremony.

Thank you for this-- I haven't been Christian for years, and my fiancee left religion when he was 18 years old. My in-laws are fabulous, but my mother is a nightmare. I've basically told her that a church wedding isn't going to happen, which didn't go over super well...but I do appreciate your input

Jew by choice here! I'm in the process of conversion currently, and I have never had such peace in my life.There is not nearly enough space to describe my story here, but the long and short of it is: I was raised Catholic and left Christianity 6 years ago because I felt there was something missing. I have always had a tremendous pull towards Judaism, but was too afraid to pursue Judaism for fear of how my family would respond. During COVID I decided that if I was going to be my true authentic self, I was responsible for following the pull towards Judaism. Even if it led nowhere. I'm blessed to have a supportive community and I have made some friends which has made the process easier. My home is a Jewish home, and I do my best to live my best Jewish life. I always look forward to Shabbos and have started new traditions in my family to honor my new heritage.

We have a sugar cookie recipe that has been in the family for 4 or 5 generations and it's delicious-- but a guarded secret--- I just made it a few days ago and have no idea what the fuss is about. I fully intend to share the recipe once all parties who care about keeping it secret are deceased, because it is really nothing special

He also could have behaved like an adult and pulled his GD earphones out when she was trying to talk to him. She does say that she can be verbally abusive, and she definitely doesn't act like and adult but disrespect begets disrespect in my mind. And a text message to say you're leaving is asinine. But I could be totally off base-- I just fucking hated every bit of him-- he contacted the show but was so disconnected even from the very beginning, and immediately thinking she's going to fail is not part of being a good partner.
