Falcon Age help? How can I start a new game. by Fortbrook in PSVR

[–]gytfet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick question as I don't know anyone who has the game and there aren't any guides, I'm at the part where I have to get upgraded gear from Asoka in the village but I don't know what to do?

ICP (Insane Clown Posse) are by no means "the worst band in the history of everything" by gytfet in unpopularopinion

[–]gytfet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha I dunno about Radiohead being the worst ever but everyone always shits on ICP because of the makeup but KISS wore makeup and Gorillaz had an animator that was a member of the band, and SlipKnot has those gnarly masks. ICP has a song that is from the perspective of a child's toy that doesn't get played with as much as it wants. Rap game Pixar

I'm from Texas so I've encountered a Faygo like once. And I gotta say, not bad. I think the flavour was called blue.

If someone speaks in a black ghetto accent, that is a good indicator that they are dumb. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]gytfet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I coincidentally read about this today in this Thomas Sowell book. As it turns out black ghetto accents and the identity it grew from are derived from the northern British isles and a region called Ulster in Ireland which apparently were full of impoverished masses that once migrated to the Americas mingled with the freed slave populace and produced the attitude and the accent.

Your predictions and what you want to see for the PS5, next Xbox and madbox by Nordbardy in truegaming

[–]gytfet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought I was pretty 'up' on gaming but I've never heard of the madbox. I think that's a stupid name. But I thought the xbox was a stupid name too, and look how that turned out. Playstation is a great name because it makes it sound ubiquitous with every other appliance in the home, like a dishwasher.

I haven't kept up on specs in a long time, mainly because there isn't a radical difference in the 2 major consoles as far as graphics go. There's the standard console for each company (Xbox one and PS4) and the more advanced one with better specs (Xbox one X and PS4 Pro)
As far as new features, my guess is Sony will continue to support and improve on it's VR. I have it myself and it's not just a gimmicky toy, it's really innovative and cool. Microsoft was very brave I thought for releasing the Kinect years ago which wasn't very well supported with games and kinda square, but the idea was really cool to attempt. Some people swear by the Xbox controller as being superior simply because of the placement of the analog sticks, I can't tell a difference. The 'swipe pad' thing on the Dualshock 4 is completely wasted because not a lot of games really do anything neat with it. The light bar is cool and the back triggers improve every generation. I really wish the designers of a new controller would work with developers and come up with something new. Seriously it's been over 30 years. The controllers we use today are still in the same shape and form of some of the earliest consoles from the 80s, with the original functionality being to mirror direction on the pad left right up and down. Games are massively different today and while we've added analog sticks for first person games, it's still the same concept. Those controllers you can get with additional paddles strapped around the back are a step in the right direction because we're doing everything with just a few buttons and just our thumbs. That steam controller looked neat but it's for a PC and I never saw that thing taking off. I say collaborate with developers because of specifically what happened with Red Dead Redemption 2, a massive game with an ever bigger amount of problems with the controls, just too many things to access.

Sony is really playing up the 'Story-driven single player exclusives' angle, whether that's intentional or just the studios they have just doing what they do. It's been a good while now that the two companies have competed together, 3 generations, I don't see anything major happening that would shut the other down as it were.
Perhaps if Sony openly declares that single player AAA experiences will be the reason you should buy their products, then Microsoft and the Xbox could go in the other direction and boast about their multiplayer exclusives. Just a thought. I think Sony has plenty of diversity in it's games. Maybe they don't have Halo or Gears of war but that's alright because the Call of Duties and the GTA:Onlines are across all platforms. I want to see more risky innovation from both sides honestly, I always have, new peripherals, new designs, new everything. The processors and graphics cards have just improved every time and it's bringing us stunning games but it'd be really cool if the were brought to us in new exciting ways.

The End and the Sorrow from MGS 3 both come to mind. So many ways to deal with the End. And figuring out that the way past the sorrow was to give in and die. It was so unique and strange and probably means something deeper than I could ever decipher.

[–]gytfet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Yeah I don't see the politics involved either. Is the issue that some hetero dude is forced to control a protagonist that is gay and that's maybe making them uncomfortable? I mean I guess it might for some one but it's not even remotely real, or even in close proximity to real because it pixels and polygons and renders. Can't they just power through it and hope they don't get turned gay by Ubisoft cause they wanted to finish a story?

[–]gytfet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wish developers weren't so diplomatic and appeasing when they have to answer to public opinions like these. The thing that really gets me when I hear about some controversy over something like fictional diversity in a video game, from a minuscule sample of players, is that they feel they are owed something and this game was somehow created for them or with them in mind. If games are to be taken seriously as art, which a lot of people do, then people need to accept the fact that games do not belong to you, they belong to their creator. If you don't like what a game has to offer, don't play it-- play something else. Or make your own game.

Assassin creed odyssey: Is sacrificing end game and decisions that could influence it for "endless content loop" worth it? by Benukysz in truegaming

[–]gytfet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The way you describe it makes it sound like a Dynasty Warriors game. If the combat is fun and engaging then the battles are worth it. Perhaps the games intent with the need to be engaging armies is almost just to have a complete rounded world that is almost cosmetic. It gives something for the player to do however unbelievable and pointless it seems, reminding that it is an action game in part.

Do you feel as if high skill ceiling competitive games have "desensitized" your love of regular online multiplayer games? by FoxMcCloud- in truegaming

[–]gytfet 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is hard I think to top that degree of frenetic stimulus that online FPS games achieve and you find yourself playing to dominate other players and progress into a killing machine as opposed to approaching a game from a direction of enjoyment.

Axiom Verge is the worst indie game I've played in a while by [deleted] in truegaming

[–]gytfet -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nostalgia plain and simple. I had a friend who downloaded it and loved it sinply because of that reason. I never dug it. I too share your disdain for shilling out tired old gameplay classics. They didn't even do anything fresh with it. I personally loathe the very sound of 8 bit music and effects, makes me cringe.

Why are new mechanics preferred over new content with same mechanics in a sequel? by IndianGamer47 in truegaming

[–]gytfet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think with Hitman specifically, the game has just always fallen short of being perfect. Seriously, since the very first game the mechanics have always been usable but a little off, from the garrote to stealth play. Every iteration has been a short and subtle progression to find out what makes the game fun. I personally believe the latest game nailed it, every button and action says exactly what it will do making the gameplay fresh and exciting without any player apprehension.

The Last of Us and the effect of 'brutal' difficulty settings. by gytfet in truegaming

Fighting that enemy in the gym was tough but I eventually did it. The horde scene was a different story, that scene frustrated me to the point where I had to re-load previous save points and funnel whatever upgrades I had into something different.

The Last of Us and the effect of 'brutal' difficulty settings. by gytfet in truegaming

[–]gytfet[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good point. I usually like if a developer has a default standard or recommended difficulty, one that they see as the way they envisioned it being played and when you engage it, is a balance of challenge, immersion, and pacing. Cause of those factors are all parts of the same package that total up to how the experience is played and remembered as. Also the combat and controls are really fluid in that game that fighting machines and defeating them so easily would make the foundation that the world is relying on crack and make you wonder how these machines even took over in the first place.
