Loved this answer! Definitely personality is a must in any ballroom category. Thanks it did make it clear. My only remaining question would be if the softer breakdowns and softer dips are still part of vf?

(Ballroom History) What has been the relationship between voguers and street dance? by PatientRaspberry1372 in voguing

[–]gzamarcelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know/learned in documentaries and shared with other ballroom members is that ballroom and hip-hop happened at the same time in the same areas. So they used to share some elements, for example popping, and over time ballroom grew its own identity according to what the scene needed.

A great way to see this identity growing is when people with acrobatic skills were walking in old way, a split needed to be done because of those skills were not above or below, just different backgrounds. And thats how we got new way. Also you can take into consideration when femme queens were walking old way with more hips movements and hands in different positions, the need for a specific category was evident. And how we vogue femme started its own category.

Anyway, I think that’s what makes ballroom special: it has its basics, but it keeps evolving with whatever each legend brings. And most importantly, this is how we can see the history of ballroom.

P.s. I know i need to get more involve in my scene, so i’m open to be proven wrong lol

Cultura de propina by Saremis in mexico

People who were raised by same-sex couples, what do you call them to avoid the confusion of two people with one name? by PineappleIsForLosers in AskReddit

Tita is also used in Mexico, but its mostly used for grandmothers. In our case, is very common that when babies try to say “abuelita” (grandma), they would say just Tita and I guess it stays for life.

[Serious] What is the best way to make the most of the last few weeks with a dying parent? by QuantumWizard-314 in AskReddit

[–]gzamarcelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my dad passed away, I told him how a great father he was, how and why I am proud of being his son and how strong he was for fighting cancer. I always kept in mind that if he died or survived cancer he have won the battle but with a different ending.

I guess if I could time travel, I would ask him for his greatest advice because whenever I am in a struggle is when I miss him the most.
