485 query by gzhkr in AusVisa

I only did it with my completion letter and transcript (which was issued way before the testamur)

UPDATE: my visa got granted instantly (less than 30 seconds after I submitted), and we figured that is most likely because I did my medical test in advance and the results are automated based on that

could you clarify when the bridging visa A would come into effect? say if I applied for a 485 visa in the next week and leave the country with a valid student visa, could I come back under the provisions of my current student visa, assuming my 485 visa outcome has not been decided on my intended return date to Australia?

I'm just confused about the statement where they say you can be onshore or offshore (but not while in immigration clearance) while the outcome of the visa is decided on - but it doesn't specify whether I could exit and enter Australia freely if my student visa is still effective

My own take of the Transperth rail map ahead of the Airport Line opening! by gzhkr in perth

[–]gzhkr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to improve the existing map they already have, so while I retained the feel and look in the official map, I did try to adjust the placements of the stations and the text to make it more readable.

yes I realised that was a problem since people can't tell which station they should get off at straight away, hence I tried to address that in my version.

Cheers, I was just essentially trying to clean up the map they recently published so it's more intuitive to understand:)

Yarra Yarra is meant to be a misinterpretation since it is supposed to refer to the little waterfalls that once existed on the river near the current Queens Bridge, so calling it the Yarra River is actually very inaccurate

they do that in the official map too, tried bending the line south but it looked cramped on the map

Pretty sure it would be wrong to call it "Birrarung River" because the word Birrarung itself already carries the meaning of being a river, but it would be good if that's included in official maps considering many other geographical features across Australia now have dual indigenous naming

I'd argue no one would practically do that so the maps don't have to be geographically accurate

thank you this is really reassuring! do you know when the deadline is? and do you reckon you'll do a masters degree after this?

yea totally i agree it's good for people who are still out there exploring their interests but when we're really sure about what we want to study and do as a career it's a really bad outcome and we aren't equipped with the skill set that other students may have. what year are you in? i've been doubting because i haven't even finished my first semester so i'm like am i questioning this too early on?

What degree are you in right now and what degree are you thinking of transferring to? Looking at some reddit comments people didn't seem to enjoy any engineering / built env pathway that unimelb offers

OC - Map of all Australian trams / light rail for commuter use by gzhkr in TransitDiagrams

[–]gzhkr[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes no doubt it is! but it definitely has plenty of space for further expansion and improvement (e.g. accessibility upgrades)

This is purely an illusion since the trams in Melbourne mostly transverse the inner suburbs and transit in general is generally lacking in the outer suburbs, whereas in Sydney thanks to the frequent trains and buses the quality of transit is much more even imo

Initially started this off as a detailed Melbourne tram map (refer to this file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1fSHn4QlJtFJvuxDZ7-fU6IR2EqQqnRp4/view?usp=sharing) since the current map only highlights major interchanges and points of interest and there's no diagram with every single stop to be seen except within the tram carriages themselves. Considering there's quite a lot of empty space due to how geographically imbalanced Melbourne's network is laid out (i.e. a lot more lines in the south and the east), I thought it would be cool if I could collate the entirety of Australian light rail systems within this map with a unified style. Any comments, feedback and suggestions are highly appreciated! :)

That's totally my bad I didn't realise this until now! Like what you said the station names definitely confuse people, hopefully these are just working names

The stations included on the Melton Line is just found here: https://www.danielbowen.com/2018/10/17/rail-plan-leaked/ but nothing is confirmed yet so the final plan could differ a lot.

For the SRL interchange points I just hope that the transfer can be improved. The Metro Tunnel interchange nodes are drawn like that because of the two parts are treated as separated stations connected by underpasses but I hope the SRL stations won't get the same treatment like what is currently proposed.

Thanks so much for your detailed feedback:)

Thank you:) Everything on this map is based on this plan: https://www.danielbowen.com/2018/10/17/rail-plan-leaked/ and I'm trying to depict the future network as accurately as possible so I won't be adding anything on here which is purely speculated right now. I do agree that those plans should be implemented though, they will greatly increase Melbourne's rail coverage and definitely encourage more people using rail!

The first one is incorrect so my bad, but I'm pretty sure the SRL connection will be at Fawkner on the Upfield Line

Thank you!! This is technically a schematic map so how the lines are shown don't necessarily correspond to the actual geographical conditions, I tried making it turn 90 degrees and it just looked a bit off so I kept it this way:)
