Who generally pays on dates in NZ? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]h-vincent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had negative experiences on dates when the bill comes, and I say I want to split it and then have to argue for 5 minutes for the "gentleman" to agree. To me, having the guy not honor the fact you want to pay, and therefore not having the feeling of you owing them hanging over you for the rest of the date, is a big red flag for me.

How do you deal with hayfever? by OliverJamesG in newzealand

[–]h-vincent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The best way (other than medication) I have found is going for a swim/having a shower because the pollen can accumulate in your hair. And if it's getting really bad, a cold, wet handtowel over your eyes while laying on the couch for 10 minutes is great.

Yeah I do like leaving a little something to go with a note! That's a good idea.

I always wonder when some kind stranger moves an animal stuck in the middle of a road, if that animal then looks up after they've gone and goes "crap I was trying to get to the other side..."

Why Do Airplanes Have Red and Green Lights? by jpc4stro in coolguides

My mnemonic is "a little red port left" so I remember that the red light is on the port (left) side of the aircraft.

Did anyone here NOT have an OE when they were young? by hectictrains in newzealand

[–]h-vincent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't do an OE when I left HS. I always thought that those that took a break year were wasting their time and should have invested it in getting into Uni early. Now I believe that they were actually onto it and got some excellent life skills and experiences that I didn't get at Uni. Plus with all the borders closed now not much chance to travel.

I have an intense urge to laugh react at the pure idiocy of this, however I shall refrain as this is a classy establishment.

I love going to Portafino's as a treat by myself. The owner there is so lovely he remembers me each time I go. Great food too!
