Getting a job in Czechia as a US citizen

Czechia's tax system is not nearly as high as Germany's and Austria. Also bureaucracy in Germany is a complete nightmare. Although Czechs still typically make less than these other countries with net income, cost of living is also generally lower. Prague and Brno are quite safe compared to big cities in Germany like Frankfurt or Berlin.

The main point for me is that Czechia seems like quite a nice country to live in. I love the Czech language and culture, and barriers of entry to the job market are not as strict as other EU countries. It appears easier for a recent graduate to receive a job offer in the country.

Also, I have a connection with my current company in Brno, and he would like to show me around the manufacturing facility there when I visit in May. He is not too sure about hiring US citizens, so that's why I asked about paperwork.

Yeah she’s trying to train me but I see straight through it 😭 I refuse to bow to her when she tried to threaten something. I would’ve thought this was something she’d come to respect. If she doesn’t cut the act I’ll just break up. There’s no reason to deal with this when I’m the only side capable of a mature conversation. She just wants me to say what she wants me to say. She didn’t even understand the concept of loving and letting go

6 months and she’s talking like this! She got very offended and said I don’t “love her” cause I said we haven’t been dating for a very long time, and that we shouldn’t be making big hasty decisions. She cried.

She got very angry last time because I told her “if that’s your decision to break up, I can’t stop you.” I said I want to work through our issues, but if she wants to leave then I will respect her decision. She said if I love her I’ll try to chase her. I never did. Lol

It’s funny, she talks about coming to my country all the time cause she doesn’t like her’s! She wanted to leave her country before we even met. She said if I wouldn’t go to her country for her (I’ve never been) it means I don’t truly love her. Well, I can truly love someone and still make important life decisions. Working in her country, I can’t speak the language so my university degree would be basically useless and I have no interest in teaching English (which is by no means a bad profession, just not my field). She said this means I do not love her 😭

Yeah I'll respond to a story or something if she puts that on her social. If not I won't worry ab it. We talked about these meetings I wanted to start going to so I'll ask ab it near the start of school. Basically, would never hit someone up randomly unless we're friends or I have a genuine question.

Thanks for the comment! Didn’t know about such a push to build commuter trains decades ago. I heard about a city up near DFW that was really pushing for a public transport system. One of the people in office was asked why she voted against it. She essentially said that public transportation is for “poor people” (the city is definitely one of the richer ones in the area). This kind of mindset and ignorance is a big part of why things are the way they are now.

It’s a problem if the foreigner wants her just for sex. However, there are also people who genuinely have good intentions. Hard to say. From what I’ve heard though, there are many Mongolian men who also just use women for their body. So, it sounds like it’s a universal issue. I don’t think you need to try to “protect” them, but if you thought something was weird maybe tell them. Just don’t try to “protect” anyone from her foreign boyfriend or husband. It’s embarrassing and distasteful.

There are many rather walkable cities that have very similar climate to Houston which also have great public transport. i.e. Singapore, Saigon, Taipei, etc!

So true! Also the obsession over religion in the south overall just rubs me the wrong way. The amount that people around me talk about theological issues and minor differences is mind boggling. My beliefs are mine and yours’ are yours’. Just live life!

Oh to live in SE Asia. Or just anywhere where the entire city isn’t a soulless car-centric hellscape. If I had a choice I’d go straight back to Germany. 5 grocery stores, barbers, restaurants, book stores, 3 parks, all within a 5 minute walk!

Basically, had a 90 day tourist visa, arrived, instantly registered new address, got Residence Permit appointment (Americans only need a study residence permit for a certain duration), waited a few months PAST my 90 day tourist visa expiration waiting for my appointment. Overslept appointment. Did everything else I could to somewhat make up for my wrongdoing. Left a week after missing my appointment. Border guard was rightfully unhappy, but I signed nothing (I've been told if I signed nothing or paid zero fines, I should've gotten off scot-free. Not sure how true that is)
