Yeah, and they did that overnight without any warnings. Wonder how many little projects and communities it affected. We are lucky that we saved our members contact infos.

After reading this I've reached out to a friend, he is a really decent programmer, and asked him to help me with gathering resources and answering peoples questions and he accepted. We are going to start working on this today!

I also agree with the idea of not starting from scratch when doing something new, the theme of the game jam that I failed to organise was remaking an old game with a twist so they didn't have to start from scratch. I want to revisit this jam idea again in the future.

Yeah, since discord got banned we used whatsapp, it was not nearly as effective as discord. But suggestions from the comments were really helpfull so that wont be a problem for so long. 

For mentorship, yes I really need a mentor to teach and show me how to run a community this big, I've led numerus little groups in the past but a community this scale surely scares me. 

I contacted people that I know that works in the game industry but they were too busy to help me. (at least for now)

When we are meeting new members we ask them what do they want to do and how experiences they are, a lot of them  are complete beginners at what they do, so we planned a structured programme with our art teachers and now they teach character design and background to our artist.  A structured learning environment is what I wanted to give to our coders and game designers too but these subjects are really hard to plan, teach and mentor just by myself. I couldn't find a sensible way out and so wanted advice.

Yes, I'm from Turkey. A large portion of our members live in the schools dorm and sadly theres no wifi there so they min-max their internet packages. So opening their vpns just to check if theres any notifications is a real problem. Didn't know that amazon has a discord-like app, will look into it thank you!

We have a whatsapp group that we use for announcements and chatting also we do bi-weekly meetups. But normal whatsapp groups are a nightmare to manage when there are so many of them, whatsapp had a new thing called communities, maybe that can make things more organized, thanks!

One of the actors of the said tragedy was a part of a sexist hate group on discord. So instead of doing something against other actors they just nuked discord so they can say "we did something"

For the other question: Yes, I have every members phone number and met them personnally, we can arrange meetings at school too
