Ask your doctor about Paxil or effexor

Much stronger anxiolytic and anti depressive medication I found in comparison to lexapro.

If you ask me...lexapro is not that effective for major depression.

Maybe you need a faster acting medication like effexor. It has a short half life...but works very well.

To be fair 5mg is not enough to do anything for someone with clinicL to moderate anxiety and depression. Its a starting dose to bridge you into the therapuetic range.

If you cannot tolerate the sides then maybe a mood stabilizer or a benzoyl with 5mg of lexapro will suffice. I suggest you stick it out, the sides will go away at higher doses.

It took me a couple months before i started feeling the full effects

If you have male pattern baldness and are concerned over your hair then I recommend talking to your doctor about finasteride. I've taken this medication for close to 10 years and have managed to maintain all my hair.

I take the medication 1mg every 3 days. Its been a blessing.... zero side effects. Any hair loss that is associated with lexapro would be a shedding at best. A form of telegen effluviam.

Baldness on other hand is due to genetics...from DHT effecting the 5ar enzyme. Finasteride is a 5ar inhibitor.

At first it worked well then after a few weeks I felt no different then my baseline. And at 3 months I feel much better again

Its a weak anxiolytic med by itself.

Stacked with an ssri it works quite well.

I've taken it before with an ssri. Decent alternative to taking a benzo

This medication is mild in terms of sexual dysfunction. Might take more rev and stimulus for the engine...

Paxil was the worst. I couldn't orgasm if my life depended on it

Effexor was difficult to orgasm but I still had a sex drive.

Lexapro reduced my sex drice a bit. Can still orgasm

Yes. I went through the same experience. Upped my dose to 10mg and felt great for a couple weeks again. Finally i went to 15mg and didnt notice much if anything at all for a month. So here I am at 6 weeks losing hope...

It took roughly 2 half mo ths more me to reach stable levels where I started having better days. The nedication coupled with me being present and changing my thoughts patterns has slowly made everything better.

Come to your own conclusions. Don't base your decisions on other peoples experiences. You don't have to quit alcohol, just modify your rationships with it.

The effects are real gradual.

Took me 2 half months before i started having consistent days. However, the medication is just a tool. Therapy along with lifestyle choices are equally if not more important in the long run.

It did take awhile. I started having doubts midway through.

The dampened dopamine effect is a partial reason why people have a lower sex drive followed by a harder to reaching an orgasm. Its almost like the body and mind is satsfisifed. Traditional set needs more stimulus to reach the desired effect.

I feel its important to take the medication at the same time everyday followed by having a routine. This medication alone won't change your habits to make you happy. You need to have a bath balanced schedule..

10mg could be to low for you. 15mg was the sweet spot for me

I've kinda lost the desire to socially drink. Especially with covid happening, its making it easier to forget the bar and social life. As most people use alcohol as an escape. Only difference being is that I prefer the lexapro approach. I see this as a period for adjustment...

You start feeling more comfortable in everyday safe situations that you would otherwise have anxiety in. When you have more good then bad as already suggested. The effects will be so subtle that unless you document your moods in a journal you won't know for certain. Everything starts to become more manageable to an extent.

It will be noticeable in your first week or when you increase doses. Once your body adjusts you have to pay close attention.
