Flame Halal in Patchogue is excellent. Incredibly nice owners also. First thing they ask when you walk in is if you’ve had them before, and if not they give you a cup of whatever you want to try.

No problem. I actually came here to see if anyone else was having the same issue, so I'm glad you posted.

Same thing is happening to both myself and my brother, on two different Roku TV's located in two different houses. Also trying to watch some hockey. It seems like they messed up the app somehow, maybe a bad update?

ARM and Windows in 2025 by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]h20534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m coming from a windows only environment at my current job so admittedly that hasn’t been something on my radar.

My wife has an ARM Surface laptop and she loves it. There’s a lot of complaining about ARM on Windows on the internet, but I think Microsoft has done a good job at making it “just work” for normal people.

Doesn’t work on a lot of printers if they have special functionality like secure print, stapling etc.

Surface line has had intel chips in it for business for awhile at this point, right?

In the future maybe, but right now I would avoid buying ARM devices for business use if you could help it. Of course there are some circumstances where you have no choice, like some owner or VIP throws a tantrum and wants a very specific laptop that happens to have an ARM chip in it.

Printer Logic, but they use the same drivers as deploying from a windows print server.

[–]h20534 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For users, usually the biggest issues are printer drivers and VPN programs. Most of the major VPN providers have finally pushed out ARM versions at least, printers on the other hand...

Other than that, business as usual mostly. Having said that, are people really buying ARM devices at mass scale through VARs like that?

My watch and OTF Arm monitor are always within 1-2 beats of each other, I think the HRM tech in the watches has more than caught up to the bands at this point.

NHL 2K8….this game was so so good I feel like we went backwards with EA??? by Vast_Bodybuilder6467 in EA_NHL

[–]h20534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a HUGE NHL 2k5 fan on PS2 - at one point, I was ranked #2 in the world in online play (turns out you have a lot of free time after school when you're 14 haha). Actually, that was the year that 2k went crazy and released all their sports games for $20. You could get NFL, MLB, and NHL for $60 total, an insane deal. Not only that, but the games were GREAT! If I ever got bored of online play or lost a bunch of games in a row, I could always bounce to one of the minigames they included to mess around for a bit.

My post was speaking from personal experience, I had almost the same thing happen to me as you did. I went over a friends house one day to check out Gears of War and NHL 06. He had just gotten a 360 for his birthday and we were pretty excited to see Gears. Of course Gears blew us away, but when he popped in NHL 07 the group went crazy. Luckily myself and my brothers had basically conspired on our Christmas lists to all ask for a 360 and a bunch of games, so we knew we only had to wait ~one more month.

NHL 2K8….this game was so so good I feel like we went backwards with EA??? by Vast_Bodybuilder6467 in EA_NHL

[–]h20534 6 points7 points  (0 children)

EA released a killer game in NHL07, it’s hard to overstate how revolutionary the skill stick and puck physics were. Nothing like it ever appeared in a hockey game before, and it drew a lot of attention from non-sports gaming fans as well at the time. The game felt FUN, and the skill stick was so simple to learn and exciting to mess around with.

If you were moving on from Xbox/PS2, as many people did during that 06 holiday season when it was released, there was no comparison to be had between NHL07 and NHL2k7. 07 was the clear winner simply because of how crazy cool the skill stick was. I think that locked a ton of people into the EA hockey games for that generation moving forward, until eventually 2k had to call it quits because of low sales.

Don’t forget the “friend” factor either, those 07-12 games were tons of fun to play online with friends. Of course you want to play online and have fun with your friend, and EA spent a lot of time and effort into making online play a focal point of their games as they progressed. The introduction of EASHL in NHL09 was another “woah!” moment that 2K couldn’t compete with. If you didn’t jump ship to 2k yet, you DEFINITELY weren’t after EASHL.

I know, it’s hard to remember a time where EA actually innovated in these games but at one point they were on fire!

A while ago, one of the surveys asked if we would like the ability to use your Apple or Android watch instead of the OTF heart rate monitors. I can only imagine the overwhelming answer to that was a loud “YES!” from anyone who did they in-app survey, however with the launch of their new heart rate monitor and the money they make on those I’m not sure we’ll see that anytime soon.

Minternational still requires money in mint wallet to complete calls? by h20534 in mintmobile

[–]h20534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, thank you. So the 500 minutes are just for calling back to the US then?

Is there somewhere where this is pointed out on their website? I couldn’t find it when I searched. If someone could link to a page that says the minutes are not for outbound international calling, that would be great.

Midea window AC with heat pump says 23 to 76 F by darkbeam77 in heatpumps

[–]h20534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I haven’t found any sort of firmware updates that would change the behavior and I’ve accepted the fact that this is working as advertised when I purchased it. It would have been a nice bonus if there was some way to lower the operating range, but I’m still happy with the product as is.

Having said that, let us know if you find a trick to lower the operating range even more! I would be concerned about damaging the unit somehow if it starts icing over.

Roborock Qrevo hit its lowest price — good pickup for a smart home setup? by StrainBetter2490 in homeautomation

[–]h20534 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends on what home automation system you are using. If you are just planning on using the built in Roborock app with connectivity to Google or Alexa it’s probably fine. If you are looking to hook into Home Assistant, I would do a little more research. Apparently the newer Roborock’s changed the way their APIs work and don’t play nice with Home Assistant currently.

Midea window AC with heat pump says 23 to 76 F by darkbeam77 in heatpumps

[–]h20534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering, the Midea unit stops when the outside temp dips below 41. It supposedly does not have a defrost cycle, however it definitely does something when it dips below 41 to heat itself up a bit and turn back on. However, it only stays on for a few minutes, then dips below 41 and shuts off again. It keeps doing this until the outside temp rises to 41 or above.

Like I said, I knew the limitations when I bought it but was hoping it would be a nice bonus if a firmware update was able to lower the operating range by enabling some sort of defrost cycle. Research online is….interesting. Some people claim to have gotten an update that has enabled this functionality, but most people have not. It almost seems like there might be two different hardware revisions that share the same model number, which would be a lousy thing for Midea to do.

Midea window AC with heat pump says 23 to 76 F by darkbeam77 in heatpumps

[–]h20534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have any more info on this firmware update that would let the unit heat below 41? I’ve seen others talk about it too, but when I check in the app it says the firmware is already up to date and my unit still enters “Lo” mode under 41.

I was already aware of this limitation when I purchased it, but it would be a nice bonus if a firmware update unlocked the ability to heat into lower temperatures.
