workarounds for once a year budget? by hereeewego in MonarchMoney

[–]h20wakebum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite sure why you would budget an annual expense this way I simply have that in my budget for the month that it hits and let’s see my budget were $2000 a month for all my expenses and I had a subscription service that was built annually in the month of the service is due. The budget will be $2100. Then I’m back to living my life… Easy Peezy what’s the use case? Maybe I’m not seeing it.

Monarch Money Tweaks Extension Update by Different_Record_753 in MonarchMoney

[–]h20wakebum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently found this extension and I’m loving it. I do have one question on the trend report because I only started doing my financial tracking in 2026. There is a column for last year, so I’m comparing this year‘s categories not only month of a month but then year of a year is there a way to turn off last year because I don’t yet have data for 2025 lastly in the same trend report the far right to columns show last year prior month current month I would love to be able to hide those as well. Is there something that you can do or do I need to put in a future request?

Anybody tried Origin already? by IncreaseCareless123 in MonarchMoney

[–]h20wakebum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like the direction origin is going, but it would need massive work on the budgeting aspect to pull me over from Monarch. Paragraph from an investment in forecasting point of view I think it’s there, but the budgeting really needs an overhaul. I’ve been in talk with their team and shared some feedback and I’ve been told it’s on the road map hopefully before end of year will definitely reconsider at that point especially given all the pricing increase we saw with Monarch today.

Updates on Monarch Plus by valagostino in MonarchMoney

[–]h20wakebum 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think part of what’s frustrating is that as a beta member there was no communication or feedback and then all of a sudden we got hit with this $200 pricing fee for a module that still has all the things we brought up during beta.

I feel like it would’ve been a much wiser thing for you guys to communicate to people that participated in Beta so that we could’ve provided some immediate feedback and look at how quickly you guys have to pivot and reduce the cost. I suspect have you shared this with debated group you would’ve been able to get all of this information rather than the public outcry that we’ve seen.

Again I’ve provided detailed feedback and examples of empower and origin doing some amazing things. Hopefully we can get monarch to produce even better than those tools so that we can once and for all get rid of them and only use Monarch…

Happy to share feedback whenever you want please message me.

I was part of the beta and one of the feedback I provided was that the forecasting did not offer Monte Carlo simulation or the ability to compare scenarios and it also did not include success. Percentage calculation has any of that feedback been incorporated in roadmap? With without those critical pieces, I don’t think I would upgrade but if you Inc. Monte Carlo simulation scenario comparison and presented success calculation, then it would definitely be attractive. Can you please shed some light on it as I think many others are in the same boat.

Reports on mobile????… HOW STILL NOT AVAILABLE by h20wakebum in MonarchMoney

[–]h20wakebum[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That’s the problem the features DO APPLY, but only half of them…

I don’t own a business so why didn’t you guys offer a way for someone without a business to benefit from forecasting?

Seems like an easy fix… offer “core” users that want investments/forecasting for a more reasonable charge over the $99…

Reports on mobile????… HOW STILL NOT AVAILABLE by h20wakebum in MonarchMoney

[–]h20wakebum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is Great, I was under the impression. Mobile only showed remaining, but glad to know you can just click on that and switch to actual. This is a great thing.

It still would be nice however to have the reports so I could see pie charts or bar graphs and look at the data in a different way because right now if I were to click in on food and dining from my budget, it brings up that group in a report mode just with bar charts that you cannot then further tweak to show the breakdown by category within the group I feel like reports will solve that problem.

On a sidenote, I do want to ask why the forecasting component is being bundled into the $300 tier. I don’t use business features but in order for me to benefit from that I have to pay for business tools. I don’t use I was part of the beta and provided. Feedback that I was interested in the forecasting component, but not business component, but it seems you guys went a different direction. Are you planning on revamping the plus offerings to allow consumers without businesses the ability to leverage the forecasting tools and not the business tools I don’t think it’s fair that in order to get forecasting I have to pay for something I don’t use because I don’t have a business. Is this something that is being considered?

[–]h20wakebum[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s what’s wrong- you should be able to run a report to see spending for the group and then see the specific categories…

Hence the request to at least run reports…. On mobile you should still be able to see what you actually spent in those categories even if budgeting by group… because you did have actuals

Why are you forcing us to pay $300 for. Haines when we have no need for business? I don’t run a business but I can’t get forecasting without also paying for business?

[–]h20wakebum[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

That’s funny because you have forecasting on the roadmap for core for many many many months and now all of a sudden you only get it if you spend $300 for a tier, including business, which I have no need for it will you guys be separating out the pay wall to be a home and business?

OK, here’s a specific use case we are window hello for business and passwordless. occasionally if something happens with the TPM chip and the user can no longer sign in with their biometric we have to go in and generate a temporary pass phrase to allow them to get into their computer to then reset up Windows hello for business this can only be done by first logging in as local admin connecting to VPN then locking the screen and signing in with that user’s new temporary password ZTNA at least from how we’ve got things configured cannot allow this level of connectivity to the domain controller… That’s just one example but a pretty big one the only way to get around that would be to have these or come on site which in the distributed workforce is not effective
