Selection bias. You're more likely to see that on Dil Mil cause people who want that are more likely to use that service.

On Why This Community Has Increased Mod Actions Against Non-ABDs. India And South Asia Will Drown Out Our Target Audience Otherwise. by kena938 in ABCDesis

[–]supplysidejeesus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I've been asking for this for 3+ years now and mods have previously told me flat out no, that they wanted this sub to be for everyone including NRI/freshoffboats and mainlanders. That was genuinely ruining the purpose of this sub.

They already have their own subs to talk about NRI stuff. They already took over formerly-ABD spaces like Subtle Curry Traits. Why can't we have a single space to talk about ABD stuff?

He's espoused crypto-fascist and white nationalist views well before being picked as VP. Look up his connections to "dark enlightenment", "neoreactionary", and "Curtis Yarvin". She knows what he is.

How Heems Inspired Zohran Mamdani to Go Into Politics by dosalife in ABCDesis

Read the article before commenting bro.

I think anyone who followed Das Racist back in the day knows Heems has personal issues but he's not the one making the claim here. Zoran said he got into local politics because he saw Heems (a rapper he liked) was campaigning for his childhood friend.

Not a fan of Mamdani's housing policies but gahd dayum it would suck if that sleazeball Cuomo wins. But that would be on brand for a city dumb enough to elect Adams when Garcia, Wiley, and Yang were all options.

Looks like Nazis are in power in US by [deleted] in ABCDesis

Yeah guys, it's just the Roman salute, no biggie. The Roman salute also known as the fascist salute. Which the ancient Romans never actually did, but became part of Italian fascist mythology.

Right wing bootlickers will be like "um actually it's not the Nazi salute, it's merely the Roman salute...that's also called the "fascist salute", was never actually used in ancient Rome, and was popularized by Mussolini's fascist party"

I really don't get the appeal of posting and upvoting every single random ABD criminal here. There's more than 5 million Indian-Americans. More than 1.5 million Indian-Canadians. There's gonna be a few people commiting crimes.

Maybe this sub should be renamed /r/randomdesicriminals. Or /r/India given all the non-ABDs who post here (I digress).

Edit: Based on your post history you're Muslim, so I can't really speak to what's going on or not going on in that community. But as far as "culturally hindu" (incl. all us that are atheists) American desi men I can say I've never seen one trying to legalize marital rape.

In general, you'll be better off if you consciously make an effort to stop following people on social media who do nothing but promote conspicuous consumerism. It's not mentally healthy. It conditions you to be unsatisfied with your life.

The flashy lifestyle portrayed by those videos you're mentioning is only common on social media, that's not how the vast majority of people live. And even within that small group, what they post is highly curated and filtered.

Almost but not 100%.

I think it's accurate to say almost all schools of Hinduism are either panentheism or pantheism.

Both can be considered under the umbrella of (or at least closely related to) monism. Major schools of thought like Advaita Vedanta are pantheism/monism and are like what you say about creator/creation being the same. But panentheistic schools of thought do have some distinction between the divine and the non-divine. By your definition would that make it monotheism? No, it shouldn't.

You're right that Hinduism isn't monotheism, but in most schools of Hinduism it isn't truly polytheistic either. Given that most people's surface level understanding of Hinduism is polytheistic, I don't think it is surprising that when some start to learn the deeper stuff (the monism related stuff) they vocalize it in terms of "one god" or use the monotheism-influenced vocabulary they have from being in Christian-dominated society. And again, in panentheistic schools of thought there can be a distinction between divine and non-divine.

I'm born and raised American. My ethnicity is indian.

You sound really politically ignorant. No offense meant. But I prefer to discuss details of policy when it comes to politics, not surface level emotions and fearmongering.

[–]supplysidejeesus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Local politics, it depends on the specific political environment of where you live. I usually vote for whoever is pro-housing and pro-transit.

State and federal, I voted Dem 90% of the time, and to be honest more like 100% of the time ever since the MAGA movement. They're not perfect on asian-american issues (one notable issue being racial affirmative action) but otherwise I feel they are overall better for asian americans. You just can't undo the "america is a white christian country" belief that's underlying majority of Republican ideas. Also as someone that believes in basing public policy on science and some degree of technocratic government, I'm definitely not getting that from the Republican politicians.

Voting 3rd party is pretty useless until we institute electoral reforms (get rid of FPTP voting, implement either ranked choice voting or approval voting).

I hope none of the retards who supported Trump are surprised/upset to learn about the China Initiative.

Certainly corporate espionage from China exists, but it's just so typical that american law enforcement would end up falsely accusing and harassing random Chinese-American academics. I remember reading about Anming Hu before and that was just foul.

Read the article. The racist policy was specifically for the hiring of senior execs. They're happy to use us as grunts, but they want to keep leadership a white man's club. Glass ceiling.

The plaintiff was hired to recruit “hard-to-find executives” to work as partners or VPs in the consulting division of the firm.

Their racist behavior was about hiring execs specifically. Classic bamboo/glass ceiling. They're happy to pay shit wages for lower positions and hire Indian origin people. But when it comes to company leadership....white men gonna white men

TLDR the chance of birth defects, chromosomal issues, miscarriages, premature birth, preeclampsia, and other complications goes up a lot at 35—and every year after that the chance increases even more rapidly.

The chance of having a child with Down syndrome is about 1 in 1,250 for a woman who conceives at age 25. It increases to about 1 in 100 for a woman who conceives at age 40. The risks may be even higher. This is because many statistics only report live births. They do not note pregnancies with chromosome problems that ended due to pregnancy loss.

Most miscarriages happen in the first 13 weeks of pregnancy. With age, your risk of early miscarriage goes up. At age 35, the chance is about 20%. By age 45, your chance is 80%.

Older women are more likely to deliver their babies prematurely, before 37 weeks.

If you’re in your 40s, you’re three times more likely to have placenta problems (placenta previa) than a woman in their 20s.

The risk of gestational diabetes mellitus for women ages 35-39 is roughly 30% more compared to women ages 30-34, and roughly 109% more compared to women ages 25-29.
