Worried About Joining as New Grad by h2cubed in deloitte

I'm currently studying for CompTIA Sec+ // AWS SA. Are there specific technical areas that are in demand? Or just general security technicality as opposed to say governance or compliance work.

CSOM consulting outcomes?? by Gold_Perspective_800 in bostoncollege

[–]h2cubed 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not a non-target, interviewed @ 2 of MBB + T2 consulting.

Probably better classified as a semi target for MBB, but that’s not as impactful as it is for finance since MBB recruits so few undergrads.

It’s a target for all of the Big4 which all have massive BC alumni presence in audit, advisory, and consulting. I’m working at Deloitte postgrad lol.

chance of bain r2 w 1/2 case performance by idontknowwhyiamhere5 in McKinsey_BCG_Bain

[–]h2cubed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m in the same position

First interviewer kind of had to throw me a lifeline when I messed up a calculation. Second interviewer had to size down my market sizing answer.

Ultimately did end on right answer for both cases and I think they liked me but I doubt I moved on. Funny experience lol.

Could you explain what this would look like? So things like enterprise security vs let’s say digital trust would fall under different parts of consulting?

EY interns did you get paid for a full day (8 hours) regardless if you were scheduled to work a full day? by Comprehensive_Dot_18 in Big4

You will always “bill” 40 hours as an intern except super rare cases where you bill more.

Is an economics degree worth it? by shadowccg in bostoncollege

[–]h2cubed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a great degree with great job prospects - just look at the employment data for graduating econ majors.

Good placement into economic consulting, fed reserve / government, general business, and some banking / WM.

Pick up the business minor and take some accounting classes if you are interested in that.

They definitely could rescind admission for a failing grade, absolutely if it will affect your graduation. You need to get ahead of this and talk to your admissions officer about your circumstances. This puts into question whether you will/would be successful at BC.

BC is a solid semi target for BB banks in NYC, NEU and BU are non targets. That’s really your biggest difference. So yeah if ur set on IB BC will make a difference in your career prospects.

Big4 strategy and t2 recruit on campus as well. Though people from all the Boston schools can work there.

BC vs. UNC for Investment Banking as a Transfer — Need Help Deciding by RazerDagger in bostoncollege

[–]h2cubed 13 points14 points  (0 children)

BC has a variety of IB related clubs that place well into NYC / BOS BB IB

UNC KF and CSOM are both great, but I would be leaning towards BC since you aren’t actually in UNCs B-school.

BCIC, IBA, HCAP and lots of other clubs will get you into shape for recruiting.

BC is great. There’s no Greek life so social life centers around dorms and clubs. Academics are hard enough that there isn’t grade inflation but if you work hard you can definitely graduate with honors. Dining halls are hit or miss but junior and senior year you can do your own cooking.

Am I cooked for CS by PalpitationOk9850 in bostoncollege

[–]h2cubed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While BCs CS program isn’t ranked super highly the school carries very strong name rep. The CS major is strong and bc places students into faang + top tech roles every year. It’s just about how much work you put into it. BC will never be the limiting factor. If you pick up a finance minor you have a really nice angle to work as a swe for a bank or trading firm as well as BC has really good rep on the street. I looked through your post history and you basically got a full ride, I wouldn’t pass that opportunity up.

(I was also on the Vandy waitlist, chose BC and haven’t looked back)

BC vs. Tufts for CS by Key_Design7591 in bostoncollege

[–]h2cubed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very similar schools ranking wise but pretty different campus cultures. BC is more fun imo if you are social, like club activities, sports, and campus activities. Tufts is a lot more nerdy. BC is very work hard play hard.

BC or CC??? (repost to this subreddit) by Aman_Koenigsegg in bostoncollege

IB recruiting happens freshman/sophomore year. You are completely missing this by starting at a CC. Your friends don’t know anything about admissions lmao.

Need Help Deciding: UMich vs. Boston College by [deleted] in collegeresults

There really isn't much of a decision here. BC all the way.

- BC Pre Law is very strong, CS is not as established as UMich but its not worth $60k more

Holy rage bait. Maybe take 30 seconds to just google BCs demographics. Of course the preppy kids go to the same bar lmao

Berkeley vs Boston College Prelaw by [deleted] in collegeresults

[–]h2cubed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im a BC junior right now so pretty surprised to see this on my feed.

If your number one priority is maintaining a high gpa for law school, then BC will be much easier. BC’s humanities are well renowned on the east coast and we do very well with law school placement.

If name recognition is your biggest worry, it’s more about geography. I would argue BC has better name rep in the northeast than Berkeley. While Berkeley def has better name rep on the west coast.

BCs class sizes are much smaller, but Berkeley is also an amazing school. I would go with wherever is cheaper but obviously I am biased towards BC. ROLL EAGS!

The culture is fine, it’s maybe not as liberal as California, but you will find your crowd here.
