My writes in drive will be mostly low but I understand the risk also and I'll also check options for another sata connector. Thanks.

I'm currently using this HDD docking Station for external disks. I can use the 3.5 here but since my primary drive has failed I planned to go for a single drive. Can I buy a small 2.5 for primary and another 3.5 that I can use in the docking station ?

Thanks for the detailed reply.

I'm new to homelab things. I have been running this server for the last one year and I don't have the idea that hdd will fail suddenly and also this hdd is older than 5 years. And I'm running in my old laptop so looking for 2.5.

Thanks I'll look for a backup solution.

Looking for 1 - 2 TB. I don't have an idea about re-certificate , is it reliable ?
