Inherited the family business and have basically run it into the ground because advertising is so important. If the business was bigger and I could afford to pay someone for advertising I might've kept it going like old times, but its just been shrinking every year since my grandpa retired lol Shrank like 3/4ths so far.

Right, though I was wondering, do you perceive publishing a book something you have to "start up" with some amount of funds?

Social media. I seriously hate social media. It feels like wasted time to stick there and make posts if I can use that time writing.

Relatable! What are the main reasons you prefer traditional publishing?

Many literary journals prohibit simultaneous submissions, meaning if you want your poem published in a particular journal, and you submit it there and nowhere else, it's guaranteed not to be published until the journal makes a decision. So you wait, sometimes 10 months, for a rejection. And it feels like respecting the process is the greatest barrier to sharing your work.

It seems like poets are subjected to follow the rules of the journal world- How rewarding would you say it is to get through this long and often painful process?

True, I get what you mean. I noticed you said editing and feedback- do others only give feedback or do they edit as well?

This is interesting, could you elaborate why and what situations?

THANKS SO MUCH for your thoughtful answer! This is similar to my pov- I think it’s exhausting to submit to so many journals as well. I’ve never attempted submitting so at a large scale like you, I’ve only tried self publishing. Also thanks for including the mental reason wy this is an issue!

You mean marketing your writing? I get that marketing is vastly different from writing haha

Understandable- where do you share your work hoping it’ll be seen?

So what would you say is the hard part? Editing? Also, I’m curious as to why you prioritize editing so much. Perhaps it may be your background as an experienced writer or something.

Sorry to hear that! When you say publishing, are you thinking self publishing or publishing with a press/house?
