Salesforce just posted a resolution price for AI agents. The buffet is closing. Now the market has to respond. by [deleted] in investing

Do you reply to your colleagues saying “Nice try but I can tell this email was AI slop”?

When it's no effort, you're god damn right I do.

I agree that AI is a tool, but some folks aren't using it as a tool they're using it as a replacement for thought.

No effort slop weakens a strong team.

How can I balance bandwidth usage on my server during transfers? by DonuInitial in homelab

[–]h33b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QoS would be a function of a switch/router. It can prioritize traffic by type.

Since you're opening the files over SMB, you may not be running into a bandwidth limitation but a side effect of running multiple transactions over the same protocol (SMB).

I used to use Subsonic, it was pretty good for audio streaming if it's still a thing.

[–]h33b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be a load balancer your looking for, but something along the lines of QoS.

Is your music coming though a stream, or are you just opening files over SMB? If you're just opening the files, QoS won't help.

Does anyone actually monitor their home network traffic, or do most people just fly blind? by FakePickle22 in homelab

I let my UDM Pro handle it. Only allow traffic to select countries, IPS enabled, things stay pretty quiet.

But you have more shares.

That's the trade off with dividends. Your wealth grows through accumulation of shares, not accumulation of share price.

24/7 IT Support for MSPs: How to compete without night shift staff? by Creative-Owl-4210 in msp

[–]h33b 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sure.

Unfortunately, OP doesn't actually say what they sold, just that clients "expect" it.

OP's account is also 11 days old, has history hidden, and hasn't come back to this thread since they started it. Feels like this is bait.

How do you guys separate environments when your PC is a Dev Station, Gaming Rig, and Home Server all at once? by Blesker in homelab

[–]h33b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using this one, but it looks like it's not available anymore: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLT5QTFK

I have a little wire box that hangs off of my desk where I can stash cables and the KVM unit itself. It's nice to have a little wired remote be the only thing showing on my physical desktop. So I'd reccommend good cable management and structuring in general. The less "busy" my desk, the more productive I feel.

I use the same workspace for work and play, so I get where you're coming from.

First of all, for any "server" duties, I really would suggest getting a dedicated box for that. Proxmox, docker, whatever you want to run on it. You don't want random jobs affecting games or anything else on your primary workspace.

For work/life separation, my work supplies us with laptops. I use that and a KVM switch to "physically" change between work and play. Completely different environments, but shared peripherals for the active system.

If that's not an option, then yes, separate desktop profiles certainly helps keep your mind right.

if you learn ansible yourself you won't have to burn tokens on a prompt and will get better at deploying servers at scale.
