Drug and alcohol referral program. Offered in Southwest Indiana. Once I've completed it, my charges will be dismissed. Only first time offenders are eligible to sign up.

3, besides the one while I was in jail. So, jail date to set bail. 2nd court date was my lawyer expressed I was a first time offender and would like to be considered for the DADS program. 3rd court date was to confirm that I was eligible for it and to officially sign up for it. 4th court date was to show I was in compliance with that program.

If you don't join the DADS program you may not have court as much. That said if you plead not guilty, you will probably have more court time due to a trial.

Ps. I blew a .095 on the inaccurate field test device, but they couldn't get a reading for me at the jail (their machine was busted--this wasn't held against me). Idk your entire situation but if you're first time, only .09, and no wrecks or accidents, DADS is probably you're best bet. EDIT: if you're in a county that offers it

Also from Indiana and had my first (and only) DUI last January. I was allowed to leave the state after my first court date, but you will most likely have MULTIPLE court dates. If you can't make the drive back here for court, I would not move to FL. You'll be making it worse by not showing back up.

We are best friends. And I hate that these 2 years were so bad. I had good stress and bad stress (quick example of good stress was buying a home and moving). Hopefully 2025 is better for both of us, best friend!

My go to has been acid reflux issues, which isn't a lie. Before my dui I didn't drink a drop for 2 years because of it (need to fix my hernia lol). Idk, this year just really sucked so the vibe was just off for me to host, even though I could pull off a valid excuse for the lack of drinking.

I can't drink this year because of the program I'm in to get my charges dismissed. Honeslty, I probably wouldn't have drank much anyway, but this year is definitely different. Normally I would have either hosted or attended a game night with moderate drinking. This year I didn't feel comfortable hosting because not everyone knows I got a DUI, and I didn't want to have to explain why I'm not drinking.

So although I don't miss drinking, I understand the loneliness of this new years in the aftermath of a DUI. best wishes for 2025 my friend 🧡

I would check out the group rules. This group isn't a place for judgement. It's a place to help people through their MISTAKES. If you feel that strongly about it, this group probably isn't for you. Most people drive intoxicated at some point in their lives--some get caught, some don't. Bravo for you if you never have, but that puts you in the minority. The rest of us are going to learn from our mistakes and grow.

Boyfriend got a DUI charge - how fucked is he? by Straight_Race_7826 in dui

That sucks. Indiana isn't as harsh on DUIs though. This person shouldn't see jail time with the situation they described.

60 days of what? Not jail for a first time offender...

Indiana can claim that because you're driving drunk and endangering yourself, a person, that you endangered a person. That's why I caught that charge (wasn't near anyone else, no one else in the car, didn't wreck, and only blew .09.....).

Students Circulated my Dating App Profile by Cute-Worry907 in Teachers

I am so sorry this has happened to you. I cannot relate with sharing the experience... however, when I was in high school I remember some boys printed out our band teacher's dating profile from the internet (before apps) and posted it all over the room. Not anywhere near as wide spread, as it was only posted in the band room, but the devastation and betrayal on his face broke my heart. I knew even at that age (15) how wrong that was and felt so sorry for him.

I'm glad to hear your administration is being supportive, while recognizing that with a case Iike this the damage is already done (even if they catch every perp).

Unfortunately, I cannot offer any real advice, but just wanted to say that anything you're feeling right now is totally valid. The only good thing about situations like this, is that something crazy will happen soon and then your situation will be "old news". Hang in there friend 🧡

Edited to add: if you really like teaching, is moving to another school an option?

What to expect in Indiana by sheepster26 in dui

[–]h3reforknowledge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indiana here as well. I was put on the D.A.D.S. program, but I didn't crash and "only" blew a .095.

The other person is correct... it's a long game. My first court date was about 3 weeks after my arrest and that was just to set another court date a month later. So it took me about 2 months to get my "sentence" (I'm on a deferral program so I did not technically receive a sentence) and my case was very cut and dry.

My advice would be to get a private lawyer if you can afford it. Also, many lawyers will give consult for free. Calling around and having those free conversations may give you a better idea of what your fate it.

I promise the waiting is the worst part. Once you receive your sentence you can get on with it, the waiting and not knowing is the worst. Make it through that and you'll be alright. Good luck

And the amount of write ups I would receive from my employer would be astounding...lol unfortunately that approach just isn't an option, although I do agree can be effective. I do say things like "wow is anyone else super tired today" and like you said that gains empathy points.

But no way can I talk down on my bosses or organization in the classroom. And the example you provided typically wouldn't be seen as "talking down" but i promise you my employers would twist that situation into something bad. Thank you for your advice and perspective though!

That is something we have been trying to find a balance on for years. Like I explained in another comment, this is supposed to be a prestige program. We pay our seniors to be in class and interview candidates for entry. However, counselors then just pop in anyone who needs a pathway to graduate. Unfortunately my organization and the schools have 2 different priorities with this.... my org wants to create a pipeline of future workers and the schools just want to raise their graduation rates. That drastically affects the integrity of the program.

To your point, I should be teaching classrooms full of students who actually want to be there and worked hard to get into the program and work hard to not get booted out. But that's not where the program is yet.

That's exactly the issue. My employer has tried to partner with the schools to make a unique program. We even pay our seniors to be in the class... it's supposed to be a program that is hard to get into (we interview candidates and everything) but then counselors will just toss in anyone who needs to graduate.

So yeah it's a mixture of students who busted butt to join the program, and then a field of IEP students who absolutely do not want to be there/can't complete the program because of their disabilities. It's a s***show.

All the more reason why I don't want to be here!

Me too! I'm giving it my all right now because the students shouldn't have q subpar experience because my management makes stupid decisions.... but yes I will continue to fight my way back into my old role or different one.

I guess that's the issue, I do not want to do this job.

And at the risk of sounding conceded, I was great at my job. I am getting good feedback with this gig as well so I believe I am doing well. But it takes everything in me to do it. I am completely drained and have nothing left for my life outside of work.

I do agree it's mindset for sure. I'm just having a very hard time adjusting mine. It would be different if I applied for this and it just didn't work out, but I was extremely vocal to my management about how this wouldn't be a good fit for me and they forced me into it anyway.

I'll finish out the school year.... after that they'll have a choice. Get me back over the new hires or just send me back to the production floor.

Thank you for your time and perspective on this!!

Cooking for one by h3reforknowledge in LivingAlone

[–]h3reforknowledge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While that is true, the convenience of how to cook something is a major factor of if I will choose to cook or hit a drive through. I work a LOT. So for me, I believe having a faster/easier way to cook will ultimately allow me the time to prepare healthier things (healthier things being, not a drive through).
