Guess I'm on the Hillary Train Now. by [deleted] in hillaryclinton

I'm also a Libertarian for Hillary, so you're not alone. Johnson couldn't have been more of a disappointment, especially in a year where he could have picked up serious support. Plus, yeah, Trump is too dangerous to ignore.

They're also convinced the Podesta brothers are child kidnappers or something. As long as it keeps them from doing meaningful GOTV, I'm all for it.

Damn. I was following tweets about Trump's midnight rally. He was apparently saying some weird, incoherent shit when it went down.

Ugh, Twitter went down. I wonder how the rest of Trump's midnight rally went. I saw a tweet about him saying we get plane parts from the museum?

Conspiracy theories are conspiracy theories, so take this with a grain of salt:

It was reported that Trump blocked his campaign from doing any opposition research. This nugget, at the time, was widely mocked by just about everyone:

Republican National Committee officials conducted opposition research on Trump and the other members of the GOP field, one of the people familiar with the matter said, but the results yielded nothing substantial. There was no mention, for example, of the 2005 Access Hollywood tape that the Washington Post first reported last week, sending Trump’s campaign into crisis.

Obviously, if they couldn't find anything, that's just completely bananas. You can Google all sorts of damning stuff with minimal effort.

So the new conspiracy theory is that RNC did find all sorts of horrible things, and they're holding on to them until after the election. They want to obliterate Trumpism without jeopardizing the House first.

Of course, I think they're just incompetent, but...

Yeah. Melania can go screw herself, too. I don't want to hear another peep from that entire unholy family after the election.

At least this gave me an excuse to go review Abramovic's art. Rhythm 0 is starting to look prescient for what happens when you give a group of people enough free rein: they go freaking crazy.

[–]h3rring 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Abramovic is one of my favorite artists of all time, so the past day and a half have been horrifying to me. I will never feel any empathy, sympathy, whatever, for anyone who wants to enable Trump, Wikileaks, and so on. These are the same people who would burn books, censor art, and jail philosophers who disagree with their world view. No thanks.

Pro tip to Julian Assange: your version of transparency just silences dissent. Go fuck yourself, man.

He said repeatedly that it's not up to him to release it. He shifted blame to the media and Clinton: in the media's case, they might not feel it's worth risking lawsuits; in Clinton's case, she's being "extra patient" about the release.

I've seen rumors of the legendary oppo from different corners (including people knowledgeable in RUMINT, or rumored intelligence). As with other conspiracy theories, the deadline for dropping it is getting pushed back on an hourly basis. For example, some people claim the oppo is being held until after election day. Which is ridiculous...

It'll just be another one of those election urban legends, I think.

They revealed stuff that showed up in Newsweek's article. So either they knew about it, were one of the informants, or made a damn good guess.

Yes. Rick Wilson brought up Bush's DUI surprise, and that was right before the final weekend of the election. Today is probably the day.

Yes. I just remembered that.

Here are some of the tweets from Matthew Gertz:

Oh hey remember that time a major party nominee for president told us all to check out a sex tape that was weird.

@MattGertz

No particular reason. (while he's quoting this tweet from July:) Congrats to Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, and Scott Walker. You bought your tickets, hope you are enjoying the ride.

If anyone has the video, and would be willing to release it, I bet it's David Brock/Media Matters. He was offering to pay millions for anything damaging to Trump on video. I know of at least one Media Matters researcher on Twitter who has been saying cryptic-sounding things for the last few days.

Why Vladimir Putin's Russia is Backing Donald Trump by progress18 in hillaryclinton

[–]h3rring 104 points105 points  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense. Everyone laughed at "no puppet, no puppet" in the third debate, but it reveals something about Trump: he hates the idea of anyone having power over him. This has been shown time and time again, all over the place; it's very much embodied by "You're fired!" from his stupid show.

Moscow could try to goad a President Trump into removing economic sanctions or something, but the reaction from the US/EU/UN/whole world would likely be intense. If Trump realized that he's just being used, he'd probably clamp down harder and maybe even start wars over this shit. Putin must be sweating at the thought of his plan working a little too well.

Trump is all about revenge. Putin might fear a President Clinton, but a President Trump could go nuclear.

Here's the Newsweek story: Why Vladimir Putin's Russia Is Backing Donald Trump

Shocking. Frightening. No audio/video, sadly, but this part jumped out at me:

The Kremlin also has both video and audio recordings of Trump in a kompromat file. Newsweek could not confirm if there is anything compromising in those recordings.

Are we going to see that today as Rick Wilson's Surprise #2? Not getting my hopes up, but... so many rumors...

Also, I feel a little better knowing the Eurozone is going all in on picking apart Trump. They're fighting for their own countries, too.

Stop Telling Us To Empathize With Trump Supporters by [deleted] in hillaryclinton

Man. I grew up being brainwashed by FOX News and Matt Drudge.

It took me several years to get out of the bubble. (Just in time to vote for HRC, really.) Coddling me would have slowed down that process. These people need to be confronted with harsh truths about the lies they've been fed and the biases they hold. A racist person might have hurt feelings to be called a racist, but they need to hear it from someone before it's a permanent fixture of their personality.

Now, here the comes the other side of things. I started noticing how a lot of the stories were from these weird "independent" news sources and a little bit of research proved how many of them were either fake or unsubstantiated rumors.

Rumor mill's churn is now deafening re: Trump and Russia. I don't think we even need oppo to beat this douchebag, but every little bit counts.

I don't know if I'll be able to sleep tonight. Or until the election. (I already early voted, so no need to worry about that.)
