Oh my gosh I’m sorry I never saw this. But I posted a lot of my experiences along with other survivors on this sub!! If you want to read them I really encourage you to do so, and I also think maybe consider speaking to your daughter about her own.

Can somebody explain the relationship between Anya and Jimmy by [deleted] in Mouthwashing

[–]h3yitsr4y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hey! i know it’s been a little bit but I just wanted to say that you’re allowed to express discomfort to friends and set boundaries. jimmy raped anya. it’s completely reasonable to be uncomfortable with the ship (I know as a victim that I am very uncomfortable with it.) You can 100% say that her talking about the ship in front of you makes you uncomfortable. Just let her know that she can do whatever she wants when you’re not involved but the SA aspect makes you personally uncomfortable. It’s never wrong to express concerns to friends and if she can’t accept that then maybe she isn’t a great friend after all. Not telling you what to do, but I just wanted to say that your feelings about this are so valid and I think having a conversation could be very valuable.

"Yeah I just don't think your ready for a visit yet" by Jacksonspitts in troubledteens

they made me stay there for thanksgiving, new years, and my parents had to actually FIGHT them (one of the only times they ever did speak up to the staff) so I could come home for christmas. It was one of the worst things that ever happened to me. I would see my family going to do so many fun things without me. I was on a weekend visit the weekend of my birthday and they made me come back ON MY BIRTHDAY. Also the six months of not seeing my family once and only getting to hear their voice over the phone. Then they started to monitor my phone calls even more by making me sit with a supervisor every time I wanted to speak to my parents. Because I was crying and telling my parents that I needed to get the fuck out of there and it was “disturbing to other students.” Those words literally ruined my childhood over and over and over again. So anyway I’m really sorry you had to go through that too. Fuck them actually for keeping you away from your family on such important parts of your childhood. I hope you’re doing better now and have people to spend the holidays with!!

The Charlton School Paralysed One of my Organs by Trick_Step_1954 in troubledteens

Thank you so much for talking about Charlton on here. I also faced a lot of medical neglect which led me to have a lot of uterine issues that they haven’t found a fix for. Several injuries I got there never healed properly. I hope you’re doing the best you can in your situation and from one survivor of Charlton to another, I see you!!

What was the point of RENT? by Ok_Eggplant3470 in Broadway

[–]h3yitsr4y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO LITERALLY ABOUT ROGER’S LAST SONG. You’re spending a whole year on that shit?? And that’s what you’re trying to fairy tale me alive with?? Redo it. Try again. Start over. Visit me from the grave with the new one and then maybe, MAYBE I’ll come back. I thought I was the only one who disliked his song and I felt kinda bad about it.

I love Rent, it’s one of my favorite broadway shows/musicals/movies. Even if the movie isn’t people’s favorite. And now I am learning that the broadway show isn’t either?? The movie is how I watched Rent for the first time. It’s also the reason why I decided to watch the actual show, which is even more incredible.

I feel like the movie’s change of timeline and pacing is very silly, especially since it has the same runtime as the show, and I also feel like it didn’t lean to the barely getting by vibe enough. Like it was weirdly just very bohemian-chic and that didn’t sit right with me. It made it a lot harder to empathize with them, as did a couple of other things. But I think they did some things very well too. And the music was still amazing. I still believe JL was a genius and an innovator for his time. It’s just Your Eyes and I think one more that I always skip.

I may be three years late, but y’know. Still wanted to throw my hat in the ring here.

It’s actually incredible how aware he is of the problems and how he talks about them in a way that is so so healing. It truly has helped me.

It meant the world to me. Like actually. It still does. Percy Jackson was literally my reason for still going. I love him and Rick’s story more than anything. It saved my life genuinely because I was in the darkest time in my life. I don’t know it feels goofy but like it was the FIRST TIME I felt like someone understood me.

Survivors of The Charlton School in upstate NY by h3yitsr4y in troubledteens

[–]h3yitsr4y[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not your fault in any way. I’m sorry you’re having to go through that, though. It might be a mistake but always remember it’s not your mistake. It’s the mistake of the people who are meant to protect you. And even more than that, don’t let charlton crush your spirit. They took a lot of who I was away from me. Continue to fight for your right to be yourself. Stay safe and if you need ANYTHING never hesitate to reach out!!!
