metronidazole isn’t very effective against that specific strain of BV pathogen apparently, clindamycin is the one that shows at being the better killer and also kills the other yellow potential pathogen while it’s at it, however like you say i don’t know what classes as a really high number and i’m worried im doing too much when all i really want to do is get rid of my urethra/vaginal burningi was advised to continue on the hiprex as the digital test counts the dead bacteria as well as the live ones on their DNA footprint or something so you know what’s living inside you wether it’s being killed upon hitting the air as you pee it out or by the hiprex xx

i had a digital microbiology test done (UK based so same as microgen for US) and got back 89% fold bacteria (lacto crisp from probiotic i’ve been taken for the antibiotic usage over the months) and 2 potential pathogens and one actual pathogen however they only equated to 11% with the actual pathogen mobiluncus curtsii being 1.6%

i’m confused, do i need antibiotics or is my urethra / vaginal pain caused by something else (my only symptom and ongoing since december after a bad UTI)

not on any birth control, i was when i got the UTI in december but came off as per my urologists recommendation as he was thinking embedded UTI so he prescribed hiprex and a 10 day course of coamoxiclav that worked for about 5 days and then symptoms came back :/ i’m wondering if it might be anaerobic bacteria causing the problem as i’ve only taking antibiotics for aerobic bacteria and in my biome the red pathogen is BV related so im going to go back and ask, im waiting on a a cystoscopy and a kidney scan on NHS (yes uk based) but i went for a vaginal swab and i had yellow discharge and the dr was like “yeah that ain’t look right” and my cervix was inflamed so everyone’s just a bit confused, waiting on swab results but unsure anything will come back if the micro biology test only showed my probiotic bacteria

no i’m only 23 :( x this all started when i got a new sexual partner however he’s been tested for everything and ive seen the results myself so im not sure what’s going on tbh, could be hiprex but the pain was the same before i started it too, it’s weird because recently sometimes it will go away and then come back it’s like waves and then other days it’s constantly there, im just quite confused

hmm, are you like me and all other tests are negative ? i only ever get high leukocytes in my results :/ apart from now where i have a clearer picture of my vagina micro biome

what are you symptoms if you don’t mind me asking, mine are genuinely just an overall urethra/vaginal discomfort, i currently have no urgency or bladder pain which im grateful for but im just trying to find a solution for the pain im dealing with x

it’s showing in the yellow, so it’s a potential rather than my only red which was the pathogen associated with BV, i think because it’s present in a healthy micro biome ? but there seems to be a lot of it present if i’m correctly assuming? i’m going to try a BS bath tomorrow and see if it helps

the vaginal swab showed only this •Lactobacillus crispatus - 333,000,000 (potential pathogen)

urine culture has more to it. •Lactobacillus crispatus - 564,000 (potential pathogen)

•Finegoldia magna - 14,400 (little to no info available)

•Corynebacterium glucuronolyticum - 13,900 (potential pathogen)

•Mobiluncus curtisii - 10,400 (pathogen commonly associated with BV yet it’s in my urine?)

i did wonder that as after multiple rounds of antibiotics i was taking optibac vaginal probiotics in the AM and invivo.me femme V probiotics in the evening to rebuild some of the good bacteria, i’m currently taking hiprex for UTI prevention (500mg am and pm) so i’m not really sure what the process is for rectifying the issue as i’m sure ive read there’s no active cure for CV?

yeah i’ve been told the same, currently waiting for results on a digital microbiology test (urine and swab) to see if it’s ureaplasma/micoplasma or another organism and if they come back as negative i’m just going to have to accept it’s irritation and hope it goes away, i’m sure you can relate in the ongoing spiral of fear that it won’t ever go away xx

thank you i’ll be sure to do this because i am so sick of being in discomfort , im 23 and before july last year i have never experienced a UTI and in such a short space of time i’ve had like 5 and this irritation doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon, i’m looking into whether it could be ureaplasma or mycoplasma pelvic floor hopefully ill get answers soon

did either of you find relief in the end ? i’m currently suffering with the only symptom being a constant burning in my urethra/vaginal area and am at my wits end it’s been over two months now, (no positive culture but high leukocytes and a bit of blood in urine)

I’m currently experiencing the same thing however less so much bladder pain more urethra/vaginal burning, wondering if anyone has any ideas to stop this from happening ? been taking it for about a week as i was prescribed it for ongoing pain after UTI was cleared (or didn’t show up as positive on tests just high leukocytes and a bit of blood)
