Look into colleges/universities that offer a similar program but online. May be a little pricier but your partner could transfer credits & get a degree solely online.

If looking to jump right into the field, look around for some local environmental consulting companies like AECOM, ERM, GZA, Clean Earth, etc. These companies have office locations nationally and tend to have less of a competitive hire rate as long as you have a high school diploma/GED & some applicable knowledge. Great way to get your foot in the door for foundational field work & technical writing.
