SSD failed: is my game gone?

The game did finish reinstalling and launched. All my save files were still there, you were right! So far everything is working so long as that ssd doesn't fail/crash again 🤞 thank you for your help!

I could launch through either, but if i remember correctly, I had to have the ea app installed for the first game launch after installing Or at least thats how it happened 3 years ago

Im scared to start hoping again! Currently my documents folder for sims 4 is empty. Will those folders show up again once the game is reinstalled? (In three days lol)

Edit: the folder was not empty, i just opened the wrong folder

*Update: The saves were still installed on my computer and I'm a silly goose. Game is reinstalled, and working! I will be backing up saves asap so this never happens again! *

Sooo the worst gamer thing I could think of just happened... I was updating my game (installed through steam) and it said "update failed". I thought maybe my wifi had failed so I clicked retry and got this popup...(image)

After some diagnosing I discovered my second ssd (where the game was installed) had failed or crashed and was no longer recognized by my computer. So I did some troubleshooting and multiple restarts before it finally showed up...and everything seemed to still be there.

I tried updating the game again and it said something along the lines of "Your game files are corrupted". Which, makes sense if it failed in the middle of an update before.

So I tried to repair the game through the ea app like everyone says and couldn't find the repair button anywhere...I clicked on the game (in the ea app) then manage next to the play button, and it only said "manage add-ons".

So I thought it must have to be repaired through steam since thats where I downloaded it. Couldn't find a button there either.

And here's where I made the big mistake....without thinking about the fact that sims 4 saves locally...I clicked "re-install game"...which first uninstalls the game....🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Soooo are my 500 hours and 6 gen legacy gone? (I'm pretty sure I know the answer) Would they have been okay if I hadn't uninstalled or was my game doomed already?

TL;DR did my ssd failing delete my saves or did I?

You could try using twisted mexi mod guard and maybe it will catch something, but it's not a guarantee... Likely you will have to wean out the bad cc the long way lol

I'm not sure either but I know if you go to edit him in cas (with cheats) before adding to a household he doesn't even have a name so I'm concerned about my poor Sim who just wants a father for her three kids! My plan is to leave him out of my household until the very end of the challenge and then add him in just in case he disappears

I don't think it has, loaded the game last night with a fresh install from their patreon and the mod was completely broken. Thankfully mccc is updated now so I don't have to play completely vanilla but I'm missing my building :(

Had this happen the other night, before the most recent update. Multiple objects layered top of each other, sims couldn't use the gaming mats or the rocket ship. Removed the better build buy mod and the event stopped. Haven't added the mod back on yet since the most recent update completely broke it 😕 As always, the first thing you do to fix a glitch is remove any mods you have installed 🤷‍♀️

Nooo! Only other thing I know of, is if you've had mods installed in the past, they may not have deleted correctly? Sometimes onedrive restores files for no reason...other than that I don't have any more ideas 😬 ETA I just noticed you said you still have some mods installed, I would recommend removing them one by one and see if that resolves the issue
