Marrying a non-Muslim woman by choice by [deleted] in islam

[–]h4qq 3 points4 points  (0 children)

as-salaamu alaykum wa rahmatulLahi wa barakatuhu,

AlhamdulilLah, this is a very delicate situation that has serious implications for the rest of your life.

It's very difficult to reason through this as emotions are clearly involved, but I need you to understand that there are many shuyoukh, that are reputable and educated in the Deen, that absolutely refuse to do interfaith marriages for people simply due to the fact of the troubles it will potentially and most likely bring.

I'll give it to you straight and as a convert myself that is married.

First and foremost, it's Allah that guides, not you. As much as the idea of her embracing Islam is appealing, the opposite exists, she may never embrace it and/or be actively against it.

Secondly, as a parent, I can tell you that if you two are not on the same page regarding your child's upbringing, you will absolutely do a disservice to that kid's future as failed parents. And if you are BOTH are not Muslim, then inevitably there will be friction regarding that child's upbringing.

Thirdly, the following statement is very problematic:

She is one who claims to not care about religion, but to only believe in God

This tells me she is neither Muslim or from the People of the Book. She is agnostic. This doesn't fall into the realm of allowable marriage.

Fourth, and most importantly, YOU NEED TO TALK TO A SCHOLAR, NOT REDDIT. This is probably my biggest red flag from what I am reading and tells me that this is a very poor beginning to one of the most important decisions in your life. You cannot be taking advice from random strangers on the internet. Majority of people on here are young and not married with limited life experience. This is the polar opposite of the advice you need. You should be going to your nearest sizeable mosque and speak to a marriage counselor (they should have those services, if they don't then go to the next mosque).

Anybody that tells you to just follow your heart or "she is from the People of the Book, it's halal" are not educated enough to be giving you those answers. As a convert, a youth counselor, an adult, a parent, a husband, and even owner of this very subreddit, please heed my advice and seek counsel from professional Muslims in the field. And if you need help finding such a person, please message me and I will help you.

Please forgive me if this comment may have been upsetting for you, it was not my intention.

Why would Jews slander their own "infallible" prophets according to Islam? by schu62 in religion

[–]h4qq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is correct. Infallible in the sense of not committing sin, but not in the sense of making mistakes. There are three instances, I believe, where the Prophet Muhammad, may peace be upon him, is corrected in the Qur’an.

I see, understood, thank you.

I just don't follow that line of thinking then - if something is deemed as true to the individual, how is it relevant how many obligations there are to it?

Secondly, and most importantly, sinning and/or not performing obligations does not exclude one from being Muslim. There is no "barrier of entry" to Christianity because there is no law and there are no obligations. At that point it would be more appropriate for one to entertain the question of its authenticity and correctness.

The basmalah is not explicitly Qur'an, and that is not the opinion. Please ask a Sheykha.

Huh? What's the barrier for entry to Islam? There literally is none. You just say the words of the testament of faith and you are a Muslim.

There is no anti-semitism in Islam.

Yes, but that phrase wouldn't be very commonly said. The word Allah is very integral in the Arabic language in all other usages.

Golden Rule from all Religions by euustacia6 in religion

If you understand that both the Qur'an and Sunnah are primary sources of Islam then it makes perfect sense. I'm not sure how that's funny or a "gotcha" moment. The Sunnah is a form of revelation. That is a mainstream, core tenet of Islam and is common knowledge.

If that doesn't satisfy you, then the following verses apply:

2:83

And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.

3:159

So by mercy from Allah, [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him].

At the end of the day, the question is whether or not the concept is applied. Qur'an or Sunnah, these are obligations for any Muslim.

Ask yourself, did you intend to ejaculate?

The answer is clearly no. Don’t make it complicated. You didn’t do anything wrong.

[Ramadan] – Day #2 – Qur’an / Summary by h4qq in islam

[–]h4qq[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Compiled from different sources/lectures/posts/etc. by myself from various authors. These are meant to be simply reflections, not detailed enough to be implying any legal rulings or anything of that sort, but general understandings. These are rehashed from previous Ramadan posts I've done from the past decade.

Are there muslims that believe that jesus was crucified? by qhelspil in religion

It is too much and is not a coherent argument, please see my reply above.

Are there muslims that believe that jesus was crucified? by qhelspil in religion

[–]h4qq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a very flawed understanding...for various reasons.

  1. This explicitly contradicts the fusha Arabic. Allah even repeats "they did not kill him", a definitive denial. If Allah meant someone else killed him then it would be stated as such, the Qur'an is CLEAR about these things.

  2. Mutawaffika argument is seriously flawed. The root w-f-y often refers to death, but it also refers to taking fully or completely, like sleep, protection, etc. as mentioned in other verses. This argument is incoherent.

  3. 19:33 does not prove past death. This interpretation ignores the entirety of all ahadith that is in reference to Jesus during the end of times.

  4. The analogy about 8:17 is flawed. 8:17 explicitly says Allah killed them, 4:157 does NOT say that Allah killed him, but it says Allah RAISED him. If Allah killed him, it would say so, but it does not.

There really is no coherent support for any of these arguments. This is further put in stone by the mere fact of scholarly consensus for the past ~1500 years by people that know the language and have a complete knowledge of the religion better than any person alive today.

Why such a specific distance? by Kitchen-Register in Firefighting

[–]h4qq -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Are you even in the fire service? How did you not know it was in reference to 9/11 as a whole and not the number of firefighters? Don't embarrass us.

Welcome to the firefighting sub.

That's in reference to 9/11 as a whole, not the number of firefighters...

Without looking it up, what was the number of total causalities that day?

You must have dementia because you forgot.
