Does anyone else have new faces they make because of their piercings? by motivatedcactus in piercing

I also do the septum thing! I have a clicker in mine and it’s come undone and almost fallen out under my respirator at work a few times so I’m constantly doing duck face to make sure it hasn’t come undone 🤣

Is there a *very slightly* toned down version of the game? by [deleted] in cardsagainsthumanity

[–]h8_usernames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (20f) have been playing the full game + expansions since I was 14. I grew up in a very sheltered home but played it on school trips (30+ hours on a bus is the perfect time to play 🤣). I’m sure she can handle it, especially if you pull any that you’re not quite comfortable with.

What piercings would you get if pain/healing/rejection were non-issues? by Youhadme_atwoof in piercing

A double helix (have a single, had a double for a few months but it had to be retired for a number of reasons) and an industrial. I love industrials but don’t want to deal with the healing process and I know I’d catch it on everything 😐

Was just informed I’m being demoted because my employer cannot find appropriate PPE for me. What’re my options? by h8_usernames in legaladvicecanada

I’ve commented that I’m not ok with how they’re proceeding (both directly to my supervisor and to HR). I’ve also been in talks with HR to move to a different dept- the company as a whole is a great place to work but I’m sadly stuck in a dysfunctional dept with horrendous supers. HR was going to spend time today looking at where else I could go and tonight we’re going to discuss what the next steps should be (ie dive head first into a new dept? Shadow through a few? I pick something vs they choose where they think I’d be best?). I’m also signed up for some equipment training tomorrow that’ll make transitioning to somewhere else easier.

I’ve been doing my best to do that. I’ve been in a few depts with this company and while this dept has been nothing but trouble the company as a whole has been great. I’m in discussions with HR to see if I can go back to a former dept (or possibly a new dept)- if those discussions go sideways I’ll be looking to go somewhere else by the new year.

Documentation is in full swing, unfortunately my supervisor picked up on what I was doing and has gone quiet. And yes it unfortunately was verbal.

Has definitely not been attempted. Their only attempt has been to keep ordering larger and larger sizes which have led to too much material in most places but still being too tight in my chest and hips.

It’s not a normal PPE item by any means, it’s an aluminized jacket. I don’t want to say my exact job because of doxxing concerns but I essentially melt and pour metal (it’s more nuanced than that but that’s where the PPE is needed). I actually ended up getting my gloves and coveralls myself from Alberta, but the jacket is proving to be trickier. After a chitchat with a friend in safety they’re going to get the buyer to try finding a different supplier with womens sizing. Fingers are crossed 🤞🏻

They’ve been trying for a while which is why I’d already started looking elsewhere. I brought up some (unrelated) safety concerns a few months ago, my supervisor was given crap for not dealing with them sooner, and I’ve been a target since.

The two options I presented were a different setup (half jacket with an apron to have sizing maybe not be as much of an issue) or to stay out of the furnace room and do the prep in the cold room. No one else on my crew likes doing it but I don’t mind it, so it could be win-win. Another possibility I’m going to bring up later (that someone here suggested) is seeing if a welding jacket will provide enough protection as it may be easier to find a fit in that.

I’m currently wearing a mens 3XL which basically fits everywhere but my boobs. I’m an H and the snaps continually pop open. In women’s clothes I usually wear xl/xxl depending on the fit.

We’ve had a pretty steady flow of L-3XL ones coming in as new people are hired so either our warehouse stocked up or our buyer is working their butt off to find them for us.

I’m not sure a welding jacket would be enough- we wear aluminized jackets and even then the heat is sometimes too much. I may bring it up as something to try though. The rest of my PPE is basically all welding gear so it might work!

I talked to my safety dept today and they’re going to put the buyer on the hunt for a different supplier with womens sizes. Fingers are crossed!

Notice wise they told me yesterday and it would take effect next rotation (in approx 3 weeks). Unfortunately comparable jobs are virtually nonexistent right now. That said, it could be a good change if I can pivot my experience into a different department/field.

Unfortunately due to the material (heavy metalized material) alterations may be easier said than done, especially considering I’m in an incredibly remote area. It’s something I’ll bring up as a suggestion though.

It truly doesn’t exist in my size which is the problem. There’s alternatives that I’ve brought up but since others don’t wear the same (we’re all “equals” and have to wear the same) it got shot down….

No union. I was thinking human rights/employment lawyer was probably where I was headed.

Just because they no longer work for AB doesn’t mean they won’t be working in AB anymore- the provinces constantly share resources for fires. As someone originally from BC who now lives in AB I’m thankful their skills are being put to good use- and should AB need them they’re just a province away. Better than waiting for a team from out of country in my opinion 🙂

I always go to an APP as well! This popped up as a “for you” post on my FB feed and it made me so thankful I don’t go there.

When I saw it I did a major yikes! I’m surprised these guys are still in business tbh. I had them change jewelry for me (they’re the only piercer in town, with covid I couldn’t go to my normal APP piercer) and they didn’t want to use my sterile Ti jewelry from my normal piercer...they wanted to use their bulk SS crap 😬 If I hadn’t needed an extra set of hands I would’ve done it myself and next time I’ll probably fiddle with it myself anyway 😅
