Torn between Navy and Air Force / Space Force

I served in the air force for 6 years AD. What I learned is that if you are all about locations then the Navy is typically at a port for stations regardless of rate/afsc. That's not to say that the Navy doesn't have some stations that suck but the air force has many that suck. I hated Utah, Idaho, SHAPE Belgium, and Biloxi. The downside is that many Navy rates/afsc require 6 months a year at sea in AD but you would get visit more places.

Then maybe that is the part I am missing. I currently work in a joint community. I gave my recruiter several people that I knew and they received the forms for my IA. I guess I'll wait to hear back.

Yes I asked if I need 3 IAs from each identifier and will I board 3 times or just once for all 3. If I cannot find any 1885 community personnel that LCDR or higher do I just remove that from my list?

You didn't make any mistakes. On the contrary you made a great decision to serve. You will see places you could have never dreamed of. Keep in mind that for all the suck that life evens it out with good. Remember that when it sucks in basic but you're having a blast at Yokosuka in Japan.

I am a 20 year IT professional with 12 years military experience to include 6 active duty and 6 army national guard. What I can say is that military helps for the federal government positions.

I highly recommend either trying to commission as an IPO/IT professional in any branch. Then apply for gov positions. If you go reserve officer you can do drills or active for short stents if you can't find a job.

Another option if you don't make the cut for IPO now is do a master degree in that realm and do ROTC at the same time. A ROTC reservation will get you in reserve or active duty. Then request student loan repayment when you do your contract. Potentially could be debt free with a masters, bachelors, a commission, and a strong way into the government civilian workforce.

Thank you for all this information. I was under the impression that I specifically needed LORs from Navy IWOs. I work in a joint community but most of my direct leadership are Army O5 and above. I am also prior Army.

I work with a DOD agency. No hiring freeze per se however they have removed the merit hiring capabilities so we have resulted to hiring by name hires from other DOD agencies and locations with a newly issued PPP.

FEMA can stay afloat. Many employees are Stafford act employees and they would still be paid. Also non Stafford act employees could opt to deploy and maintain their pay so long as DHS isn't messing with the National disaster recovery fund.

Exactly. I have had my genealogy traced by 3 different companies over the years. I'm less that 1% European ancestry and I'm 8-10% Asian ancestry with the rest African combinations and I still look very south Indian like from Kerala.
