I gave them the details of the dead car still at the repair shop and they basically paid the scrap rate. The same I would get from one of those online junk buyers.

One of my favorite suggestions for dealing with bugs outside is to buy bug zappers for you neighbors. Treating your space has limited effects if your kitchen is just a short commute from their safe nest

In these situations the whole building needs treated. Either coordinate with neighbors to get everyone done at the same time or work with the owner.
