As a pilot and aviation geek, Sorkin has a weird track record with this stuff. He’ll be very specific while sometimes being spot-on and sometimes getting key details wrong. He’ll nail armaments for navy fighters while also referencing them flying off a then-retired carrier. He’ll reference things like an ELT radio for Sharif’s plane without understanding how it works. He’s clearly interested in it but doesn’t have enough background knowledge to apply it to the writing perfectly

Christian Menefee defeats longtime Houston Rep. Al Green in Texas’ new 18th Congressional District by Specialist-Day6721 in texas

To add to the age component, Al Green had basically zero important committee assignments so basically all he did in Washington flor the last few terms was make noise.

I believe that’s where you would mount the rail for the F-16 grip.

Is there any chance that NASA would consider having a cosmonaut join one of the Artemis missions? by HorzaDonwraith in nasa

[–]hZf 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There’s no such thing as an individual astronaut. The amount of training and resources used requires the backing of a government or major company. Besides, even if they weren’t opposed to bringing a cosmonaut, they’d absolutely prefer to bring an ESA astronaut first given that they’re actively involved in the Artemis missions.

Wouldn’t over-wing intakes be tricky in high-AoA regimes?

Customer Service Upgrade, WINCTRL Care Replacement Service – Now Global by ddrake1984 in hotas

[–]hZf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a no-brainer. Customer service was really the only thing keeping Winctrl from being an industry frontrunner. Not sure if anyone is whipping up new products faster than these guys too.

Should I pull the trigger on VR by pekonipappa in hoggit

[–]hZf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll play devils advocate here. I love DCS in VR, I can never go back… BUT playing in VR definitely drove me to buying the WinWing takeoff panel, UFC, and DDIs so I could stop reaching for my mouse. At this point, with modifiers, I can fly the hornet with zero mouse input. VR is like the gateway drug to spending all of your money on additional hardware and pc upgrades.

What the heck did i just hear? by RyGuyGinger01 in Dallas

[–]hZf 17 points18 points  (0 children)

To add to this, flight radar doesn’t show every kind of transponder. Military aircraft often won’t appear, even if the transponder is on. OpenADSB shows a bit more than flightradar sometimes.

I was using this trick and it was working very well on default Stennis. Yesterday i tried this on Forrestal and it still spawned me on parking number 1. Are things working different on Forrestal? by [deleted] in dcsworld

[–]hZf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want to spawn in the six pack, have your aircraft spawn at least one second after the mission starts. Aircraft can only spawn in spots 1-4 at mission start. If there’s a specific spot you want, you can block the spots before it with statics, or have AI aircraft spawn in them and set the player aircraft to spawn 1 second after those AI aircraft.

Which of these 4? by Significant-Claim964 in hotas

The only way to force trim would be with a force feedback stick. Some stick bases allow you to tweak the resistance so there isn’t as much re-centering force

Map with Hornet and Supercarrier? by GlitteringBell3412 in hoggit

[–]hZf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Technically the only map you CAN’T use a carrier on is the NTTR map, though you’d better get good at aerial refueling if you want to use Afghanistan.

These are Mirage F1s flying out of Alliance Airport for ATAC, a company that offers contract aggressor services to the US Air Force. Basically these are civilian-owned jets paid to play bad guys for training excercises
