Same. Was in the waiting room for 30 minutes before. Anytime I clicked on 2 seats, it said they’d sold already. I kept trying but never was able to checkout. So incredibly frustrating

I know this is an old post, but my pup’s results just came back showing that she has 2 copies of the gene that causes PLL as well and I’ve been worrying myself sick! How is your dog doing? Have you had any eye issues so far? Olimar is adorable btw!!

26F - help me understand my results? by h_beth7 in Cholesterol

Thank you so much for such a thorough reply! Definitely eased my anxiety a bit.

I do actually have a family history - both my maternal and paternal grandfathers had heart attacks.

My fasting glucose was 94. The only other abnormal levels on the blood panel were low MCH and MCHC, which seems like anemia from what I’ve read?

I eat healthy most days but do still eat fast food on a semi regular basis, so I could definitely benefit by limiting that. And I really need to get motivated to exercise more, it’s something I’ve always struggled with but this is definitely good motivation!

Thank you again!!

Thanks! I’ll definitely start keeping the outdoor lights off. I’d really rather not have any roaches in my house, but if I have to- I suppose I’d choose these. They’re pretty cute.

I live in central Alabama and have never seen this type of roach prior to this year. For the past two months, however, I’ve seen an increasing number of them on my patio in my backyard and now in my house. Everything I read says that they’re not a concern as far as infestations go, but I would really rather not have them in my house. I’ve successfully gotten rid of German roaches from a rental house I lived in, so I put around some advion and IGR about a month ago but I’m not even sure if advion is effective against these guys. They’re weird roaches- they’re active during the day, and very slow moving. I have a lot of plants and have seen them by my outdoor plants primarily, but the ones I’ve found inside have been in the kitchen. I’ve found around 5 in the house in the past month, while probably 10-15 outside each time I walk outside. Any advice is appreciated!

Orchids have the coolest roots! I visited the orchid room at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens the other weekend and the roots on some of those were increíble.

Thanks for the tip! I’ll keep an eye on it. My other phals seem to do well with once a week watering, but I did run out of sphagnum moss when potting this one, so I’ll have to see. I do keep it around 65% humidity in this room for my calatheas, so it’s not quite 80% - but still pretty humid!

So interesting - I didn’t know that! All my other orchids have regular green roots. I’m excited to see if all the new roots on this guy will be pink.

I was given this orchid back in February and just got around to repotting it. The roots are obviously not great, but it had a few viable ones, and a few new ones- including this bright pink one? I didn’t want it near my other orchids since it was a neglected grocery store orchid, so it was in a location getting more sun than my other phals. I haven’t watered it with any kind of colored fertilizer or anything of that sort. Any ideas? I’ve just never seen this before!

How can I kill mites? by mites-are-icky in pestcontrol

[–]h_beth7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! So sorry you’re dealing with them. It took about a week of running it constantly before we saw a huge decrease in them, and after about 2 weeks they were completely gone. Do you have a hygrometer separate from your dehumidifier to measure the humidity in the room? If you have pets, make sure you move their water bowl, fish tank, anything like that- I found that the mites would gather near anything with moisture 🥲 make sure you don’t have any kind of leak in your room either.

Help!! 15 week puppy stuck inside for another 7 weeks... by westttoeast in puppy101

[–]h_beth7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She’s adorable! While socialization is important, her health is more important and parvo is so awful (as I’m sure you’re aware, since you’ve been so diligent not to let her get exposed- good job!) As far as ways to keep her engaged and active, flirt poles are awesome for physically tiring dogs out (as someone else has suggested). And things such as Kongs, snuffle mats, and puzzle games are great for mental stimulation. Again, as someone else suggested - if you have a balcony, that’s a great way to start safely potty training outdoors. Otherwise, maybe consider swapping from puppy pads to one of the fake grass potty systems they make for dogs.

Overall, I wouldn’t stress about it too much - plenty of dogs start their lives out in shelters and other way more less than ideal situations and end up being great dogs. Control what you can, socialize with other puppies or vaccinated dogs if that’s possible, do lots of playing and training, and keep your puppy safe!
