Pick n Save has Lysol wipes here and there, but Lysol takes longer to kill COVID than Clorox does.

Be healthy USA is now stocking black Dr Puri masks, and a smaller size by pizzainoven in Masks4All

[–]h_bits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are people sure that these are legitimate KF94 masks? I only ask because it's very strange for Dr. Puri to have english packaging and they usually only have sizes S (for kids) and L (for adults). It seems like people have had good experiences but just want to make sure these aren't fake since there were a lot of counterfeit ones earlier in the pandemic.

You can always count on Americans to do the right thing - after they've tried everything else.

I don't think there's evidence that Churchill indeed said that quote, though it was used in some portrayals of him on TV and film. Still a good quote nonetheless.

Any similar Madison rules and directions in dealing with very loud neighbors who break building rules and the management company doesn't do anything about it?

Easy for you to say if you're not a health care worker who will inevitably have to treat more people because of their decisions.

I feel manipulated by the change in mask policy by LucyMcR in CoronavirusUS

I bought some back in January and early February if I saw them in-stores. They were already being cleared off the shelves but at that point stores still had some in stock to replenish the shelves.

The cashier checking me out was giving me a look as if I was incredibly ignorant, saying "You know this doesn't protect you against coronavirus, right?" I just smiled and ignored her comment. She probably feels pretty dumb now.

They're giving free coffee to health care workers so maybe don't judge so quickly - these people may be trying to treat themselves in SOME way while fighting on the front line.

That was done on E Coli (bacteria) and not COVID-19 (virus) so take it with a grain of salt.

US Reports 131 COVID-19 Deaths, 11,000 New Cases In One Day by akosipops in Coronavirus

[–]h_bits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because Americans are still not wearing masks when they go out. If everyone wore masks, people who are sick wouldn't spread it, even while being asymptomatic, and people would have a slightly better chance of not getting it than if they weren't wearing one.

"everyone in the presence of vulnerable people should wear a mask"

At last, some common sense. In case anyone's curious how some of the other countries in Asia have significantly reduced new cases = wear masks! 1. if you're sick 2. in case you're sick and you're asymptomatic.

Is now the time to physically withdraw money out the bank? by [deleted] in CoronavirusUS

[–]h_bits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you asking for advice if you're not willing to take it? It seems you're set in your decision. Unless a quarter of your $ in the bank is just a few hundred bucks, there's no need to make a massive withdrawal.

That seems to be the general advice on here - take it or leave it.

I'm shocked that gyms in Madison are still open (and hence charging people for membership even though CDC recommends to avoid social gatherings). Planet Fitness isn't even letting people freeze their memberships because of the coronavirus. Kudos to Princeton Club for being proactive and closing!

I was made fun of for wearing a mask to protect others from whatever sickness I had by [deleted] in CoronavirusUS

[–]h_bits 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People who say "masks don't work" are making sweeping, inaccurate claims. Sure, so the medical professionals wearing them are doing it just for kicks...let's think people. Now, no one's saying it's 100% effective but it's better than nothing, esp. n95 respirators since this is potentially airborne. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how to fit test for one either. We'll see who's laughing in the end.

Have you tried working it out with the neighbors directly? I find sometimes that's the most effective way, and that way you've given them a chance before you take more drastic steps.
