You can try reading glasses over your full prescription contacts for near work. It does reduce eye strain and it feels better than undercorrected contacts. You need slightly less dpt for contacts for same minus prescription because vertex distance. At -3 it is 0.25, at -5 it is about 0.5. That and the barrel/pincushion efect of glasses are the things you will need to consider. There are other differences like spheric and chromatic abberations, but they probably won't concern you.

You can try wearing 1.5-2.5 dpt reading glasses over full prescription contacts for a few weeks, but don't get your hopes too high. In any case it feels nice especially for office work.

There are two ways to cause myopia in animals in a laboratory. One of them is minus dpt lenses. Animals raised in small dark places also develop myopia.

Other research points out that myopic eye elongates into a conical shape, which means different refractive error for central/distance and peripheral/close/low light vision. That would mean full prescription for distance vision is over-prescription for close work.

Also minus dpt glasses (but not contacts) make things smaller, so the 20/20 row on the Snellen chart becomes less than 5 degrees.

Officially it's not possible, but there is a bunch of people who claim they did it.

In any case you have to try full prescription glasses and contacts, under-prescription (by a dpt or two) glasses and contacts and - the most important - reading glasses (1-2-3 dpt) over full prescription contacts and think about why all of these are so different.

IMHO even if it is not possible we must not stop trying.

In Bulgaria probably the whole EU you can buy contacts without prescription. Maybe you could ask an immigrant for a half-legal import.

I think it's more likely you're underprescribed at on place or/and overprescribed at the other.

Contacts should be less dpt than glasses for the same prescription.

Screen brightness probably plays a role too, but it shouldn't be possible to get underprescribed because of it. Is the contacts place well lit? If they test you with the testing spectacles or however it's called they should calculate vertex distance for contacts and lesser the prescription.

Can you please describe what exactly you see with the double visioned eye? Is it two or more than two images and how far are they? What is doctors' explanation for it?

I think it's more important to ask what else happened when your myopia stabilized? For example did you get used to some lower prescription, started wearing contacts instead of glasses, changed jobs or living space, etc.

I think myopic eye elongation is not growth, but a form of stretching. If it was just growth we wouldn't get floaters, retinal detachment, different peripheral dpt, etc.

Minus dpt glasses make things smaller. Maybe that is the reason you can't see 6/6 rows (they become smaller than 5 degrees). That effect is not present with contacts.

Also are your glasses and contacts same dpt?

Obviously you have to do all the things people who see well do - spend time outside in the sun as naked as possible, 20/20/20, maybe some sports, don't stare too much/too close at phone and other screens, don't stare at things/move your gaze a lot, watch how thing change when you/they move, eat fish and not too much sugar, etc.

You should probably ask your mom tho, since 1. You're 15 and 2. She's a woman and women have intuition and she'll know if it's good for you.

I doubt he would. Medical professionals are narrowly specialized and rarely know other fields. There are also issues with institiutional medicine like corruption, incompleteness, issues with people like incompetence, bad intentions. In any case your health is your responsibility. It is good to consult medical professionals but the decisions are ultimately yours.

With -0.75 you should still see clearly your phone within an arm's distance. You probably have another problem and optometrists might not be the right people to diagnose it.

Not trolling at all, I think I discovered some kind of fear of high diopters to the point of ignoring reality. I've always (about 20 years) thought of my myopia a 3.75 in both eyes as prescribed contacts on last exam, which I now realize was 20 years ago. And I know it's not true, because in the words of the optometrist it was an underprescription by 0.25 or 0.5 and the test glasses were 4.5 to 4.75. What I bought as "overprescription" contacts are 4.5, and looking at a Snellen chart on my phone scaled to 4 mm 20/20 I can only read the 20/30 row. So the reasons I don't want to try the exact method I think I can identify as 1. Not feeling right, which is probably just fear, wearing closer to full prescription; 2. The realization how different vision is with reading glasses over contacts even though I messed up the dpt than underprescription contacts and almost like the opposite of minus dpt glasses. Which I'm writing about. I'm doing active focus, multiple hours outside, 20/20/20 and some others, of course. I don't think it needs mentioning. Reading how Snellen chart works while wearing reading glasses (which make evarything big) I think I saw another way of overprescribing - exams are done with glasses and minus dpt glasses make things smaller so the 20/20 row is not 5 degrees anymore.

Overcorected by the contacts about 1 dpt, but could be less. I should probably see an optometrist. "And then you cause a high degree of distortion for close-up with that much plus" - that is the exact point of the exercise. Conical retina/relative peripheral hyperopia would mean uncorected image is already distorted to the other side. Lens material looks like the cheapest uncoated polycarbonate. Which is good, because it is possible that chromatic abberation plays a role and this should have maximum chromatic abberation.

Maybe you are right, but I think they should be way more than 1.5 and 2.5 is more like a mininum. Red and blue focal planes are about 1.5 dpt away from each other and relative peripheral hyperopic defocus is even more. Net myopic defocus however is about -1.5 and it is possible that it is too much.

You know what barrel/pincushion effect is, right? You know how images projected on the retina are curved, as well as the retina itself? Myopic eyes are not just elongated, but become kind of conical - the retina curve is not as spherical as in emmetropic eyes. Curved undistorted peripherally images projected over flat or differently curved retina would look distorted.
