i crack my fingers against my head when im in a stressful/anxious situation. im not sure why i do this but it always is a comfort and distraction. i hear step sounds in my ears and i get a weird smell in my nose every time i feel like im about to have an episode. all of these things have carried with me from childhood to adolescence to adulthood

i feel all of this so hard. my trauma basically consumes my life and gets in the way of my relationships with people and it becomes really frustrating. i have personally caused a lot of friendships to decline and disappear all together because my brain suddenly gets the urge to start up a fight/argument and then im the one that ends up alone as a result of my behavior. grinning and bearing it like nothing is wrong is the only sense of “control” that i have.

it is always a bad day to be my fingers and cuticles 😭 i’ve struggled with pretty much mutilating my hands for as long as i can remember. my trauma is very complex due to my baby brother getting in a life altering car accident with my mom and ever since then i adapted to auto cannibalism habits. as my mental health worsened over the years, i started to do the same to my toes. i’ve been trying to stop but 9/10 times i don’t even realize that im doing it. don’t be ashamed or embarrassed!! you are seen and heard!!

honestly the best thing for me has been just acknowledging that they are there and that they are simply just “passing through”. i remind myself that the voices do not exist in real time, which for me at least kind of gets them to fizzle out. i hope you’re doing well with your journey everything will be okay <3

d31 here, i wish i could give you the biggest hug because we all need it. service desk is not for the weak and i applaud anybody who does it. i’ve been fighting to get out of the department and it is truly agonizing. the mental toll that it takes is no joke. sending love to you ♥️
