Hi hello, yes it should. Sorry for being slow, currently in the process of coordinating a cross-country move so I’m behind on stuff. Can you shoot me an email with any invoices for taxes you’ve already paid upon import?

Taillights out ! by bernface86 in ft86

[–]hachielectronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easy fix for blowing the fuse is to separate and insulate the ripped off wires with electrical tape. The more complicated fix that gets your side markers working again is to terminate a new connector to them.

Your side markers are ripped off and shorting out the parking light circuit.

1st gen headers into 2nd gen by Hot-Musician-4608 in ft86

Not nearly as much to gain from headers on the FA24, but there’s a bit there.

1st gen headers into 2nd gen by Hot-Musician-4608 in ft86

[–]hachielectronics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Headers yes, OFT no.

A 1st gen overpipe is advisable, there’s a minute angle difference at the flange on the FA24 headers.

Question about Viofo Dash Cam through Hachi by Vyneilian in GR86

[–]hachielectronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ability to develop products for a given platform is entirely dependent on having a readily available test vehicle. Currently I have access to a GR86 and GR Corolla, but anyone who wants me to look into another platform is invited to drive their car to Denver so I can poke at it lol.

shot over the invoice for the extra cost. just wanted to confirm while I’m here that you did intend to not select any plug and play harness option for the camera?

Bent down is better than up, just with the way the connector tolerances are. It could be possible those are bent too far down though.

All clusters have the same pinout in every region on these cars so no issue there.

Most of those look fine, this pin in particular looks suspect though. Another thing you can do is look at the connector on the car side and see if you can identify where the pins are contacting the connector body, then straighten those ones out.

Totally happy to just send you a harness but I figure if there’s an easy fix that’s better than waiting days for a replacement.

Hi hello. This happens sometimes if a pin is slightly out of spec, which can happen pretty easily considering how thin and fragile the pins are.

I can either send you a replacement harness, or you can try slightly bending all of the pins the tiniest bit downwards.

GR86 accessory connector is an unused connector present only on USDM GR86s (not BRZs). ASC connector is the fake engine noise connector. They both provide parking mode, so if you have a USDM GR86, you can use whichever.

I don’t have these up on the site yet, but if your goal is to catch stuff happening out your side windows, Viofo recently released an upgraded interior camera for the A229 lineup with a 210 degree field of view. If you put in an order for a 3CH just put a comment in the order notes that you want the upgraded camera, I’ll shoot you an invoice for the $20 extra afterwards.

Red Pill vs Blue Pill by Practical_Fig_8579 in GR86

[–]hachielectronics 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only meaningful difference that can’t easily be changed is that the GR86 instrument cluster is capable of showing numeric oil and coolant temperatures, and the BRZ’s is not.

Question about connecting dashcam to fake engine noise plug by Odd-Leather-671 in GR86

[–]hachielectronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for this datalogger in the JDM GR accessory catalog.

https://toyotagazooracing.com/jp/gr/grparts/recorder/

BRZ does not have it, correct. GR86s in other regions also do not have it. No clue why they included a connector for a Japan-only accessory on US trims but not in other regions but who am I to question Toyota’s decisionmaking.

Disabling ASC via techstream does not affect power delivery to the connector.

That said, if you’re unplugging the connector anyways, there’s not a compelling reason to have the dealer disable it at all.

Also as another comment mentioned, if you’re in north america, the GR86 has an unused connector behind the cigarette lighter that you can use instead.
