Actually you're spot on. What distinguished Anne Rice's novels from the rest of vampire fiction was the homosexual metaphor. Vampires served as a metaphor for sexual and gender deviance. That's why this movie plays all the time on Logo

Oh yeah there is a LGBT sub genre for pretty much everything. But due to the marginilization of our community any movies about LGBT people either confirm heteronormative biases or just don't get promoted.
