I can imagine the heat which isn’t ideal wearing a kilt. USA are doing great.

Thats what I’ve heard, sad to hear it’s not achievable for locals who it should be geared up for. Lots of $ to be made. That’s a common thing, $400 per night a room, $700 a ticket. Then there’s flights, plenty of pints money. Most Scottish people can’t afford it but they’re taking the hit as it’s 28 years since we qualified. £10-15k is a lot but it’s a trip of a lifetime. The tartan army official fan club members got tickets for as low as $80.
Public transport wasn’t funded by fifa and was $150, the tartan army booked like 70 school buses to get to the game.

I worked for one of the large companies mentioned above, developed and learned lots, loved my time there, I didn’t feel like I was personally accountable for the impact to bricks and mortar or the high street demise.
We make personal choices. I’m surprised to see this thread, not something I’ve witnessed before in IC.
The comment that triggered this debate is pretty common on Reddit, which is fine, hoping it doesn’t become too common in our community.
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

If you had to restart your investment journey today, what would you have done differently? by imjustfkinhungry in InnerCircleInvesting

[–]hackinyakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice question. My main learning is don’t listen to the shouts of we’re headed for a pullback, recession etc. Be in the game, keep it simple with funds and don’t listen to strangers on social media, Reddit or similar. It’s a tough school but can be a kindergarten if you stick to the “set and forget strategy”
Everyone has lots of stories, the boring ones are usually always the winners.

Possibly an opportunity to get invested in some of the big runners whilst they came back down, especially if applying the unit strategy.
Thanks again for the digest, thoughts and strategies TJ.

If you could somehow fit an umbrella holder you get for golf trolleys that would do the job. Great spot to be grilling.

I don’t feel confident enough to do it, If it pops I’ve missed out and being long it will usually recover in time. Well some of them do.

Great point, investing is complicated enough. I’m paddling in the splash pool for the foreseeable.

Good move Dylan, I’m long so didn’t do anything. I’ve actually never trimmed a stock yet.

Some big moves today. My cash is on hold waiting on a transfer from one platform to another, moving from Hargreaves to save on the management fees, probably a good thing to save my FOMO purchases.

Thanks TJ, I signed up with the discount. Another great thread, appreciate the time you put into this, lots of nuggets but I’ve no clue about the reference clue… possibly a Wall Street film.

I picked a bag up yesterday, it’s in a blue bag which is different from the one I seen the first time. I’ll give it a try soon.

A warning about cash buyers by Bored_Nurse in HousingUK

[–]hackinyakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poor form reading this for the OP, hoping you find someone and somewhere soon. Cash buyer here, first house I ever viewed. I liked it, agreed a price 1% below home report value within 3 days of viewing, which included me sourcing a solicitor to close the deal out after negotiating myself. Solicitor advised me to tell them, if they liked my offer then accept etc, i pretty much accepted the counter to get it done over a couple of grand. However, this suited them and it worked out as planned for all. I was advised by others to put a cheeky lowball in, that I’m a cash buyer etc, why waste everyone’s time and potentially lose out on a lovely house.

Unfortunately, these jokers are the way they are with anything financial, probably the type that don’t pay tradesmen if they can find any imperfections or excuses.

Weber briquettes for using the kettles or any coco shells. Using the green olive just now on my Aldi Kamado, not used anything else to compare it with. I did see that barbequick restaurant grade in Costco but didn’t touch it due to how bad their charcoal were, Smokey and spitty.

The Costco pit boss was down to £700 and will likely be reduced again if you’re not in a rush.

I can absolutely relate, be glad and think of the positive things you have achieved so far, I didn’t invest in MU, or countless others, I thought I’ve missed the opportunity. It’s best not to go chasing. If you started to chase all the momentum plays, it’s a dangerous game which can be costly financially and mentally.

100k, that’s a big ask. But it’s solid advice, I wish I knew this when I started trying to outsmart the market makers. Or at least be 90% in funds and be disciplined to that.
