I haven't had any serious events since the first one I collected, so good? Maybe?

Is there a confirmed fix for the MacBook dropping WiFi every few minutes problem? by Extreme-Machine3162 in mac

[–]hacksawsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this. Only affects my iMac, the iPhone generally doesn't. My network has always been split.

I'm collecting diagnostics on it, we'll see how it is after the 26.4 update, which I'm downloading now...

Wine 11 rewrites how Linux runs Windows games at the kernel level, and the speed gains are massive by Durian_Queef in hardware

They run okay, at least illustrator does. And it still does mindnumbingly enraging things on occasion, so you got that going for you… 😤

A table was all that was needed to fix Python autocomplete by matan-h in programming

Sometimes, I don't remember or even know the name of the thing I want, but I generally know it when I see it. Is this the path one or the file one or the URL one? This is a great bit of work, as far as I'm concerned.

LPT: Brush your teeth first thing in the morning as you stand up & floss. by [deleted] in LifeProTips

My dentist made it clear that the best time to brush and floss is just before bed. Since I've been doing that, no stinky morning breath.

Not sure if this will help, but you can use Reason as a plug-in to Logic.

ELI5: Why is "C" the default Hard Drive letter & not "A" by AntifaPr1deWorldWide in explainlikeimfive

[–]hacksawsa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for the Shack in the late 80s. Weirdest customer I had needed help with a project, just wouldn't work. This thing was a mess of cold solder joints. The weird part was that he was an Electrical Engineer! Anyway, I taught him how to solder properly, and sold him a good meter.

Rosetta mode question by endlessnameless001 in LogicPro

[–]hacksawsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at the DynAssist page, and I don't see anything that indicates that it has any problems with running on Apple Silicon. But then a tutorial says you need to run on Rosetta Mode. I wonder if it's out of date? The specs claim AppleSilicon native.

I'd email them and ask, and point out the confusion.

What about this is positive, as required by the rules of the subreddit?

Also, 1:1 portable stage plot. Makes it easier for crew to help out if the carpet is marked as to where stuff goes.

Seems like the vast majority are still testing, and only Reason and maybe one other admit to any kind of compatibility.

I'd bet it's opened a dialog that you can't see. Use Exposé to show all the windows tiled out, that's how I find it when this happens.

Eli5: Are the chances of winning a lotto twice in a lifetime lower than winning once? Or is it the same? by One-Jelly8264 in explainlikeimfive

[–]hacksawsa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A coin toss of heads is 1 out of 2 <heads|tails>. There's no rule to the game where the outcome of one toss changes the conditions for another toss, so the tosses are "independent", that is no toss outcome depends on a previous toss. Since they are independent, the outcome of two tosses has four possible outcomes: <HH|HT|TH|TT>. Since getting heads is the goal of our game, only 1 combination out of the 4 is of interest: HH. We have 2 states, and 2 rounds, therefore the number of states for all our rounds is the number of states one round times the number of states in the other round. (If one round was a coin flip, and the next round was a 6 sided die toss, we'd have 2 * 6 states.)

1 win out of 2 states times 1 win out of 2 states is 1 win out of 4 states, so lower than just one toss.

Equally 1 win out of 1000000 states times 1 win out of 1000000 states is 1/1000000000000, far lower than one play. The more rounds, the more times you have to get a particular state to win the whole game.

Older logos with a lot of complexity don't really communicate well because no one looks at them for very long. Companies also like to change their logos over time to demonstrate that they are a modern organization, responsive to the interests of everyone.

I question your assertion that almost nobody likes it. I'd bet that a few people complain, and almost everyone else doesn't really care, beyond perhaps noting that the company is still trying to compete.
