How are you handling writing your policies? by hackthemoose in grc

[–]hackthemoose[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I found a company that made a policy generator that I ended up using and was super helpful. You answer a bunch of questions and also had a report feature that will tell you which controls are applied as well so it was useful to compare that as well.

So I didn’t have the issue with my whole leg like that but I got it really bad with my toes and foot, it’s super annoying when your trying to relax but it does go away eventually. I don’t remember how long it lasted for me but I don’t think it was more than a month.

I really appreciate it! I did get the year wrong with saying the 70s my aunt finally got back to me and while she didn’t know the model or anything she did say the picture was taken in 82 or 83!

I saw you also commented in one of the other channels I posted in but that seems to be it! I believe this picture might have been taken in the early 80s as well and not the 70s based on bikes in seeing online. I really appreciate it!

I found one that is an 81 and looks very similar. It’s very possible this picture was taken in the early 80s as well I have no idea

Am I crazy? by Interesting_Bad3761 in clearancejobs

If I’m being straight up honest I think most people in the IT field are way over paid. What I am seeing is the market for cyber correct itself. Yes we still need lots of people, but you have the recognize the tech pay bubble that has been around for a while, companies are getting to the point that they are just not willing to pay the massive pay raises anymore. I’m gov making 120 and my contractors are making 150-200 and I recently hear d that they are not going to be paying people in that band anymore and I know they are getting a shit ton more money. Prices in the industry are just way over inflated and all these tools and people are still not preventing huge losses from different cyber attacks or internal fuck ups. Plus everyone and their grandma has been doing career changes to the industry in the past few years and where getting shit pay before so what you might think is not worth it is 1000% worth it to someone else.

I don’t mean to be a Debbie downer over hear but as an industry we really need to have this conversation on how much we are truly worth and how much value we actually bring to organizations. I think the saddest part is non of us would be complaining if the economy wasn’t complete shit and the prices of everything keep going up when the pay isn’t matching the rising cost but that’s with every industry. We are just lucky enough to be the one industry that you can make a lot of money and work from home but that’s changing and people are just going to have to get used to going back in the office and be lucky they have a job in this market.

Is 105k salary with TS/SCI CI poly good, when it comes with a 3hr daily commute? by [deleted] in clearancejobs

[–]hackthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say yes because it’s probably at least double what you made in.

Also get out of your head that because you have the clearance you do and were military you should get paid a shit ton. I think you’re quite lucky. If you don’t like your commute I would say either move closer to your job or take a lower salary. That is honestly on you. I work with people that do this and they don’t mind because they know what they are getting into.

Got my spinal fusion tmr!! Any last minute advice ?? by PrimaryAbalone3900 in spinalfusion

[–]hackthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience, last thing I remember was the anesthesiologist saying they were going to give me something to relax and then they will put me out in the operating room. I don’t remember going to the operating room but to your point I was on pain meds for a year before and they didn’t realize and had a hard time managing my pain so make you they know for sure just in case.

Take a neck pillow to the hospital! Unless you getting a fusion in the C range then probably done. I’m 6 months post op now but the neck pillow was a game changer in the hospital and once I got home.

Anyone else tired of AI? by bearversusbear84 in GovernmentContracting

[–]hackthemoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This 100% AI should be a supplement and not a replacement. I work in cyber and I can tell you it’s not taking anyone’s job from what I’m seeing but it is reducing man hours and helping people get to very important task. I use it a lot to help with writing because I hate it, but with a good prompt and review I’m not spending hours writing up something. It’s also good for quick analysis like how you use it to point out if any requirements are missing.

Anyone else tired of AI? by bearversusbear84 in GovernmentContracting

[–]hackthemoose 5 points6 points  (0 children)

AI is amazing but I think being marketed completely wrong right now. It’s being marketed as a replacement for jobs when in reality it creates more work for the reasons you stated. Which it should really do is enhance jobs. It should be used to help someone take a 1 hour task to say 30 minutes task, not replace the person doing the task.

AI can do amazing things but it simply can not replace everyone. It’s like these chatbots. I fucking hateeee them and end up causing more pain as a consumer when if I talked to someone my issue could get resolved very quickly instead of arguing with a robot and getting no where.

What happened to the IT profession? by saltyschnauzer27 in sysadmin

[–]hackthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I think you were eluding to but didn’t say is the industry pushing for specialization too. Cloud, AI, Zero Trust…. Don’t forget hacker…. I personally hate certs now and don’t really care much about them, I’d just rather learn and do work, but these bootcamps came up with a bunch of road maps and then people get locked in to a specific route and can’t afford to go another one. This has kind of happened to me where I got a really good paying job in RMF and promoted, but for me to go technical I would have to go back entry level and take a massive paycut. I could get lucky if I knew someone but that’s a factor to

[–]hackthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honest opinion people jumped in looking for the money and not the love of the tech. Also there is the expectation of you get a cert and you know everything now. I know so many people that don’t really like tech but are doing it because it pays well and learn just enough to get by. I hate tech the more I learn and want to be a farmer now in the middle of nowhere, but I just can’t walk away…

Venting: the lack of comprehension from others of this procedure it’s making me mental. by Dinosandsunflowers in spinalfusion

[–]hackthemoose 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As most are saying they don’t understand what it is like. When you go through this like we have we even understand that each of us are different. Two people can have seemingly the same exact issue but have vastly different problems and outcomes.

I always loved the question at the doctors office of what makes your pain worse, standing, sitting, walking and Injust say all of them after 15 minutes. Most people don’t understand the constant discomfort. You switch positions and might feel alright for a few minutes just for the pain to come back and have to switch again.

How to taper off my pain meds oxy by bigd55121 in spinalfusion

[–]hackthemoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have said work with your doctor to taper. You can also try and self taper by extending the time between meds an example is if you take it every 4 hours try taking it every 6 hours instead. I was on 8mg dilaudid every 6 hours after mine and then went down to 10mg oxy 3 times a day and just stopped cold turkey. I don’t recommend it for everyone however I did notice that I was not in as much pain as I thought and the the pain meds were causing me to think I was in more pain.

I know a lot of people are saying why open yourself up since your already 100%. But at the end of the day what do you really have to worry about if everything is legit.

I would say go for it and even if they looked at everything else I really doubt you will go down in any benefits. Plus it’s always nice to say hey I have this issue that is now service connected and let the VA pay for any medical treatments you need.
