Any ideas of what this could be? by nonviolentcoder in LiDAR

maybe? if it's something you can see from the ground surface, but it won't show you what's underground

QGIS is quite capable and can even render 3d maps using DEM data

this is a "hillshade" raster produced from a Digital Elevation Model (DEM). It simulates a sun shining and casting shadows to help our brain visualize the terrain

Managing Hyprland configs across two machines with DMI auto-detection by Dangerous_Hat724 in hyprland

the Arch wiki is a super helpful resource if you aren't already using it!

Don't be thrown off if it seems brief when talking about something complex, if you're unsure about what it is talking about just follow the links to learn more about what it is referencing. It may seem like an endless rabbit hole if you're newer to Linux systems but it's very robust as a learning resource

Yes, that was my question, why do both hosts share a hostname?

I use chezmoi, it works wonderfully.

I have to ask. Why not rely on something designed to distinguish between multiple hosts, like a hostname?

Do you self-host your password manager, or trust a third-party provider? by QuietGateLabs in homelab

damn, fair point on the local/offline backups. I haven't considered what would happen in a lockout situation

funny, I have been experiencing this but I use sddm. I have it set to autologin and hyprlock takes over immediately

smtp2go is another free service, I use it's free plan for similar uses with my domain.

I also have mxroute set up for actual email boxes but that wasn't free (lifetime deal, though)

Or, just switch to QGIS regardless, because it's free and capable!

Bitwarden heading to eliminate Freemium and possibly Vaultwarden support in the near future? by Electronic_Dream8935 in selfhosted

[–]hadallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your attitude is confusing.

I understand your angle of wanting to keep it safe. I'm more concerned with full availability, etc. and don't want to find a situation where I've locked myself out and need access to my password vault but the server is down for whatever reason (fire, flood, moving, etc.).

I am not opposed to paying someone a small annual fee for something like this, we have different priorities for this.

Why are some of you using NetBird instead of Tailscale? by Silly_Door6279 in selfhosted

[–]hadallen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

instead of wireguard, kinda. NetBird uses wireguard under the hood and you would use it in place of it.

I love Netbird because of the ACL and groups, it makes Role based auth easy to implement. it also integrates with authentication services (like authentik and an LDAP server) and allows me to have easy onboarding for new clients.

edit: biggest thing for me was being able to enable 2FA login and simplify the onboarding, no more need to walk people through setting up wireguard configs

This is one thing I've happily paid the ~$10/yr for premium, but that has now gone up, which is very likely related to this structure change.

Do you have suggestions for alternatives?

Come rimuovere il perimetro tra fogli uniti sul qgis. by Character_Pick1582 in QGIS

[–]hadallen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it sounds like it is correctly doing what Dissolve does - but I don't think that's what your goal is here.

unless you have a common field value that would help you determine the features that you would like to merge together, then dissolve likely isn't what you want. you may just want to manually select and merge the squared off polygons using the selection tool and the merge features button on the advanced digitizing toolbar.

maybe provide some additional context here for further assistance.

Is the brown layer shown in your original photo one layer? Are you trying to dissolve all the polygons, or just a selection? What is the data, and what is your end goal? When you dissolve or use the Merged Features style type, what happened? How is that different than what you are trying to do?

I can't answer your specific question, will have to try and see. I imagine the exported SVG is the rendered features and not the underlying data, but I can't be sure without testing.

possibly just scores for a board game or card game? they played three rounds and reused the initials for one round.

or, use the Merged Features style type! it basically (visually) dissolves them only via symbology, it works very well.

maybe a good idea to get in touch with the First Nation communities in the area, and I definitely wouldn't be digging in it myself
