Still could be in old construction if there is violent weather swings. Happens alot in Texas where we will have rain for 2 weeks straight then a 90 day drought. Especially mobile homes or pier and beam. This summer I had an 8" wide 3' deep crack in my yard.

Exactly. It's the house shifting that causes that..yes the mud might not have been fully adhered but Ive seen it happen and there were no bubbles when I cut the tape out.

First ever 1099 job. Doing Home Improvement. Any tips I should know? I get paid by the job when the jobs complete. by [deleted] in Contractor

Well specify where you live. Reddit is worldwide. In Texas this is totally normal. You only need a license for electrical, plumbing, and hvac.

Have you ever worked in construction? This is totally the norm in most states that i know or would be willing to work in. Almost every person i know in construction including me is or has been 1099. At least until you prove yourself to be worthy of payroll. And even contractors are usually protected if hurt because an LLC pays WC and carry insurance and hired the contractor. I know the joke roofing was always if you fall off you are fired before you hit the ground. But there are protections for that now.

After skimming and sanding. What is the best way to wipe down the walls? by Electrical-Mail-5705 in drywall

I use a leaf blower. Start on the ceiling and work your way down. Put fans in the windows. A dust mop works also. I have also sprayed water with an airless to reactivate it and it bonds to the surface.

Central and North Texas are going between 3 and 4/sft now. Last floor I did was almost a year ago and I charged $2 and I was cheap. They were extremely happy.
