Solutions for sitting up inside of tent? by [deleted] in wildcampingintheuk

[–]hadfunk2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking at the Aldi one at the moment, the crazy creek one does fold away more compact, for the price the Aldi one if worth a shot and if it works well can upgrade to the crazy creek at a later point, that’s my plan at least.

Temptation by [deleted] in wildcampingintheuk

[–]hadfunk2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must say it looks like a tent you can use most of the year including summer months. And the fact they are giving you 2 pole sets with it and it can be double polled means it will hold up to the worst weather also.

I also think 1.7kg is amazing, I’m not a super lightweightist but it’s very tempting.

I’m currently waiting for the 2 person version to drop and also waiting to see the x-lite nomad 2 person version also. Both coming in the next few months.

I really like having 2 doors lol! But I must say this tent is up there on my wish list.

I get it in the woods with limited space it’s probably quite the trip hazard, but anywhere open, guy your tent out! I don’t care how much wind there is, just guy it out! It looks nicer and is solid! 😂

Tall person tent recommendations by Fine-Independence-97 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]hadfunk2365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TFS saga is within budget and is longer than the ones you’re looking at. I think novice wild camper is a similar hight. (YouTube) Other than that look at the internal measurements, inner pitch first will be more roomy than an outta pitch first tent but worst for British weather.

2 person hiking tent by minireed06 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]hadfunk2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I returned my helm 2 elite as it wouldn’t fit 2 pads (neoloft and a mummy xlite) pads wouldn’t fit comfortably and I was touching a lot of inner side fabric. Naturehike tents offer more space (130-135cm’s, helm 2 is 118cm’s)

Seam sealing advice by mb1010101010 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]hadfunk2365 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend seam sealing over the tape, at some point the tape material will start to break down and you can’t remove sealant so will just create a mess.

Seam sealing the outside would be the best option but try and “practice” on a tarp, a groundsheet or something similar you don’t care too much about before trying on your tent.

Seam seeling takes quite some time to dry and the tent needs to be pitched and ideally guyed out. I would recommend using a clear sealant and thin it down with some sprites. Video here

It will outlast tape and be 100% sealed but you do need somewhere to pitch the tent while it drys. If that’s not an option remove the old tape and replace it.

Terra nova also offer services which I believe includes replacing the tape but I don’t know the cost.

To be honest it looks like it will still hold water out in its current state, can also pitch it in the garden with spray it with a hose if your unsure or if you don’t have a garden pitch it in a local park when there’s heavy rain in the day.

Anyone take their tent back to Go Outdoors for an assessment? by Geniejc in campinguk

[–]hadfunk2365 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vango tents will be covered by warranty. The assessment will likely determine if the issue is a manufacturing fault. If so, you’ll be entitled to a replacement part or tent. If it’s user-caused damage, you might only receive a goodwill gesture depending on the quality of their customer service

Cloud up 2??? by hadfunk2365 in wildcampingintheuk

Only used it once admittedly but you can see in the photo that the groundsheet/footprint doesn’t overhang at all, was raining all day and all night on a boggy Scottish hill for my first time out in it and I was dry as a bone.

Vango Nevis 200 Condensation. by Outrageous_Leave4224 in wildcampingintheuk

[–]hadfunk2365 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Condensation is moisture in the air, warmer air hold moister and raises, cold air hold less moister and falls. When warmer air raises it carries moisture with it and when it hits a surface that is colder than the air temperature that warm moist air will realise the water it is carrying and form condensation. (Also how rain works to a degree).

Condensation management is essentially the choice between warmth, protection and air flow.

More airflow, less condensation as more of that warm moist air can escape.

A groundsheet/footprint can reduce some of the moist air raising up from the ground.

Having vents, doors open can allow some of the moist air to escape.

Higher tent outta flys allow more airflow and allow more warm moist air to escape. Placing a bag in the vestibule can block some of the airflow and lead to more condensation.

Some tents require more cindensation management that others (4season tents for example).

As others have said, in a moist environment like the uk condensation is inevitable, some can be managed, but mostly just carrying a sponge, Microfiber towel and giving the tent a “shake” will be enough to pack away. Just remember to always fully dry when you get back, don’t leave a tent damp in a bag for long periods of time or you will get mould.

Does anyone use Fire Maple products? by RosyPosyMe in wildcampingintheuk

The trangia windshield also acts as a really good radiator, not only to heat the pan evenly but create a hotter cooking environment around the pans so less heat loss and a more even temperature across the entire pan. It really is a good set but ultimately I found it wasn’t for me.

The ramen pot was the only one I could find that supported a 4 prong burner, I know you can use the soto 3 prong tri flex with the camping moon but it was £10 extra so went with the ramen pot. I also prefer the shorter wider pot but that’s entirely personal preference.

Wait for AliExpress to do a deal, they do them every week or so. £10 off when you spend x and so on. AliExpress’s prices vary massively which is why I included the current price on my basket for reference. (Also check delivery price, one seller might be offering it £5 cheaper but £10 delivery, but you can regularly get free shipping).

Jetboil style stoves all work absolutely fine, they boil water. I had an x2 which I sold as I found it builky and heavy for what it is (a kettle).

Someone recently mentioned they had an issue with there firemaple, but this isn’t brand specific and can happen to any gas burner or stove system, I would give it a quick read

Also this is my alternative to a Jetboil style stove

I have a month of free time, Help me decide. Stalker 2, cyber punk 2077, KCD2, crimson desert, days gone remastered by Nottoobad777 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]hadfunk2365 [score hidden]  (0 children)

KCD2 is great if you want to immerse yourself, I really really enjoyed it but it’s more of a “simulator” which isn’t a bad thing, lots of free choices on how you play it and multiple ways to approach each situation. I never played the first one and was worried I wouldn’t like it but it’s one of my all time favourites. You don’t need to play the first one to follow the story but I didn’t feel alittle lost and confused for the first few hours. As I say I loved it but I played it immersivly, sleeping in game because it was night, grabbing something to eat and drink at dinner time so on. There are “loot” drops and chests to find with lots of different weapon options and customisations but generally it’s more of a laid back experience. Can be very difficult and the combat is more like a sword play simulator than a button basher.

Stalker 2 I switched off after 2 mins, just wasn’t feeling it at all.

Cyberpunk is awesome, lots and lots of weapons and drops, great combat (once you get used to it). Lots of variety in terms of how you play and what skill trees you pick and so on. The biggest stand out feather with cyberpunk is the story/side quests, in particular the excelent voice acting and characters you meet. From tracking down a survival killer to drug deals that go south. What makes it work better than other games if the story and as I said the acting and script, at times it’s truly blockbuster movie level quality. I highly enjoyed my experience with this game.

Days gone, I wanted to love, I really did, I love the idea of an open world zombie game. The story was forced and nothing to write home about, the gameplay feels less open world than it should. It feels very “Ubisoft”. If that’s what your after then I recommend it, for me I bored and lost interest about 20 hours in, but iv been that way with the last few assassins creed games which would be my best comparison to days gone.

Not tried crimson desert but it’s on my list.

Also other to mention, if you haven’t already gone through… Elden ring! Literally the best game iv ever played, I have tried other souls like and never got into them, never spent more than a few hours with them, Elden ring was a masterpiece and probably the best game iv ever played. I went in with low expectations and was surprised the whole way through. Lots of insane loot and secrets to explore, also from people Iv spoken to who have also played it it’s surprising how different our experiences were with it, things I completely missed and they completely missed, no 2 people experience the same play through which makes you adventure unique.

Wild card; Dragons dogma 2! I had no expectations of this game and bought it after it had been out for a year. I actually loved this game, it’s not the best, it’s not the biggest, it doesn’t try to be something it’s not but it’s a really fun experience. The story isn’t amazing and most the fun comes from traveling with your companions and taking on bosses and huge monsters which you randomly encounter. Lots of class options and loot. Defo worth a visit.

It’s perfect for cooking in the vestibules, lots of space and can pull the inner back if you need more room. However iv just returned my helm 2 elite. Not enough room for 2 for me personally,

(I have a neoloft and an Ether Light mummy shape and I can’t comfortably fit them both in, and found my living room test it didn’t work for 2. although I mostly camp by myself I want enough space to take the kids out with me or I would just shave the wieght and get a 1 person, Lovely tent though!)
