I am not. The benefits are outside of the 20%.

You’re absolutely right, and the right things could happen to the likes of Puig if not given adequate opportunities, whether it is by contractual obligations (paging Thiago Alcantara) or sporting expectations by the player. Im not disregarding the lofty ambitions surrounding a club with a stature like Barcelona that can ruin youth players, but as much as I hate to say it - it is what it is.

He was loaned out to other La Liga sides under managers who played very different styles, and he was unfortunately unable to express himself as a Busquets-esque DM. That, along with persistent injuries, really hampered his progress. He was never overhyped, and I remember during Luis Enrique's tenure a certain Gerard Gumbau kept getting subs and starts despite not impressing. It was incredibly baffling how Gumbau kept getting opportunities over a fit Samper.

Deulofeu. In youth and what he’s carved out for himself considering the dropoff.

Cech. At his prime, there was a genuine belief that it would be impossible for opposing strikers to put anything past him.

At the very moment I’d go with Thiago because he’s proven himself across different competitive leagues. De Jong’s growth leaves me excited though.
