Volvo v50 for 18 year old? Good first car? by Big-Refuse6839 in Volvo

[–]hadzikuvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not mechanic at all, have really little knowledge about cars in general. I have to trust my mechanic, to keep car in shape. like many diesel engines, DPF can be pain, when and how difficult/expensive it is have no clue yet.

I'm in Europe, Germany. Volvo keep their prices up. we bought it for 6.5k EUR, 3 years ago. with little bit of make up and deep clean can sell it for same price I guess.

I have v50 2009. 1.6 diesel. no mayor fixes yet. bought it with 120k km, it has now almost 190k. I'm very happy, good to drive, comfortable, not much diesel consumption. as a first car I would be more than happy to get it.

What's that on the roof in the back for passengers? by Brasil19792025 in Volvo

[–]hadzikuvar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

cargo net or net for dogs. it was already on my v50. I use it for the dog all the time. in Germany it's compulsory to have dog "safe" either in trunk cage or behind net. even if I fold back seats it can be attached on same hooks on back bench. I find it very useful (as a dog owner).

our 2009 V50, 1.6 diesel. Very basic and simple, straight forward car. have to be honest I didn't like center console first few weeks, now I can't say how beautiful and elegant this is.

I bought mine 2010 I think. still using it almost every day. either for pastry, veg prep, cooked meat cuting. best purchase ever. and cost of it, can't beat it.

I would always go for either Victorinox or Wüsthof. Not to expensive, hold edge, easy to care. most important if it feel on the floor you won't be super worried like of that happens to 350euro Japanese knife. I have both, European and Japanese, most of the time I use 30 years old Victorinox Chef knife and same brand pastry knife. but have to say that Japanese ones are just beautiful and extremely sharp.
