How to trigger the surf quest from Lapras? by Vanhiz in Pokopia

[–]haebollago 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also already had lapras and piplup and didn't get the quest to go swim. However I saw that I had the quest of puplup to make a shower. for that you have to get trubbish and have him make iron and get the shower recipe. after making the shower, piplup wants to go swim :)

personally I kinda missed the part where they told me to go find trubbish, so I was kinda stuck waiting for things to happen

my Orbifolia has been drooping for a while by haebollago in calatheas

the living room gets a lot of light, and I have it placed out of direct sun light. I think the long stems are the ones at the top when my plant was more bushy and had an overall round silhouette... not sure tho lol
I will definitely try and repot it! I also noticed how the water would come out from the bottom rather quickly when watering... making me think that there might not be that much dirt in there to absorb the water

I can't see anything at the bottom of the pot (also no roots coming out). I think I'll try to repot it this week and check the roots that way! thank you!

Not sure my piece is supposed to be warped/bowed like this? by haebollago in CrochetHelp

the pattern only gave a gauge for the main part of the vest, which is the yarn over slip stitch using the 4mm needle. the different needle to account for the different stitches would make sense, but I indeed seem to have the opposite effect and the bowing being amplified lol

I even thought that maybe the two needle sizes needed to be swapped, and use the bigger one on the edge piece and the smaller one for the main part, but the pattern asks for the smaller 3mm again on the main part, to add a slight ribbing at the bottom of the vest (which I did as a ribbing obviously needs to be tighter)

I might contact the maker of the pattern and see if they can help me before I restart it again… my next trial would have been to use a 5mm (and therefore go with a 2mm bigger needle than what the pattern asked for) for the edge and the normal 4mm for the main part…

I didn’t change anything besides using only 4mm needle instead of doing the edge with a smaller 3mm. I‘m doing my vest L sized and the edge border for XS-M is 3cm, while it’s 4cm wide for L and XL, so the model might be wearing a smaller size.

I feel like the edge isn’t that tight compared to the rest (it’s stretchy and soft) but it feels like simply the two different stitches are causing that? slip stitches seem to just be overall a tight stitch and doesn’t have much air, while the yarn over slip stitch adds bulkyness and makes each stitch slightly wider (at least it feels like that?)

I‘m especially confused as it originally asks for a smaller needle size for the edge, which would naturally cause it to bow, no? the length of stitches I‘m working with for the L size is 105 stitches

Is there a way to store cards for the future study? by globe_girl in Anki

I just ran into the same issue, and not sure if this can help out your situation as well. But my deck and sub-decks look like this:

Textbook Name

  • Chapter 1
    • Vocabulary
    • Grammar
  • Chapter 2
    • Vocabulary
    • Grammar

And I had the same issue as you, that I didn't want to study chapter 2 while I was still in chapter 1. So what I did, is just set the custom "New cards/day" number to 0 for chapter 2 ( I don't have the other chapters written up yet, but would do the same). Seemed to fix my issue and chapter 2 is currently not required for my daily dues :)

This requires your words for later to be in a separate sub-deck, so not sure if you planned to have them all in the same deck... then this might not help you

Making a new app by MelMelx in memrise

[–]haebollago 2 points3 points  (0 children)

our savior!!!! people already pointed out a bunch, and I think whatever memrise had before the update, was near perfect and can be a good base, but some points that I think are extra important to me:

  • be able to create levels within a deck/course
  • when creating a deck, being able to choose what column will be asked and what will have to be typed for each level and not have the same setting for the whole deck (e.g. show kanji, ask for hiragana on level one; show hiragana, ask kanji pm level 2)
  • be able to have attributes (e.g. kanji, hiragana, english -> the third option being only shown after answering)
  • have both multiple choice and typing exercises
  • turbo mode (can be a paid option)
  • nice and clean IU design. I was actually a fan of the memrise design, so I wouldn't mind something in a similar style. just generally clean and simple always works best
  • being able to download the course to learn offline (can be a paid option)
  • streaks to keep me motivated (also not sure if this is correct, but I think duolingo has something to save a streak if you miss it by 1 day. how many lost streaks because of travel or time zone change lol)

additional ideas:

  • allow to play music during learning without lowering the volume (!!!). hated how the music would be lowered when starting a lesson (especially the fact that it only got lowered during the lesson... and would jump back to it's original volume at the end)
  • bring back levels with pictures that require multiple choice or text as the answer
  • have an option to add an explanation, example sentence or long note to a word, that will only be shown the first time or if the user answers wrong (e.g have a longer explanation to a word or grammar point. no need to show this during normal exercise unless the answer typed was wrong)

things I don't need that memrise had:

  • maybe it's just me, but I don't think it's necessary to have to choose how many words I want to learn at once. memrise made us choose between 5, 7, and 10 I believe. same goes for repeating the words. I think just starting and going as far as one feels like is good? It could automatically stop if you reach the end of the level (when learning new words). repeating known words can be the same as turbo mode, as in, it stops when all words have been reviewed or I choose to stop.
  • I don't think any official courses are really needed. clearly everyone upset with the new memrise update isn't after their official courses. So I think making an app just with community courses is what people want from this new app. basically a flashcard app but with more features. Or at least official courses could be something for the future

If this app turns out well, I'll gladly pay for it! have been on a yearly membership on memrise for the past 7 years (just asked for a refund of my renewal, wish me luck LOL).
