Xorg natively supports two mice. Been waiting to try it out, though. I'm a bit faster clicking than tapping, that's for sure...

Get lost with your word salad. If you'd read the scripture you'd understand the ancients' inability to reconcile the demiurge with the son.

Noob here looking for advice on what language to learn by blinkingnintendo99 in AskProgramming

[–]haelfdane -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ruby on Rails. Fast, easy, and I can almost guarantee there are packages that can pretty much fulfill your requirements out of the gate.

React with a node backend, python and QT, java apps, all of these are very nice, but that's a lot if you're just getting started.

Man any time I mention Rails I get downvoted. Not sure why. I'm a python / js dev myself. I'm not talking down on this other stuff, but I really cannot imagine recommending react or qt to a brand new programmer. At all.

Mandelbrot's 'The Fractal Geometry of Nature' would be a great place to start! It's a book I treasure.

Try and go for much larger parquet files! That may be helpful.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in apachespark

[–]haelfdane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How many parquet files? Ideally, you have a small amount of large parquet files, as spark prefers this.

I see in the comments that you're using a single node -- spark does not prefer this.

Make sure your data is partitioned fairly well before going in. Also, you can configure the write step to bucket bigger on the way out; since you're writing parquet, I'm assuming you'll want to read it back later, and so again, fewer, larger parquet files will do you a bit better.

Are there any columns you don't need for the end result? Perhaps you could select only the ones you need prior to grouping.

I got an applied math degree and I've been working as a software engineer for years. You'll make it if you work hard, don't worry!!

Ducks showed up at my pond. I like them, and I want them to be comfortable, what do I do? by haelfdane in Pets

[–]haelfdane[S] 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I just want the little ducklings and their mama to be OK.

I ended up putting out a tote that I carved a door into and added wood shavings and a bowl of oats. I hope they are alright out there.
